alienware sux, they're overpriced and their customer support is soooo bad it isn't even funny, build it yourself, you'll have more fun, and save a whole bunch of money

Now that's your opinion. Alienware doesn't suck and yes, there stuff may be overpriced, but I'm talking about a laptop, not a desktop. I have an Alienware laptop and I'm more than happy with it. I did pay $3000, but it was worth it IMO because I now have the name and bragging rights because it isn't a Dell, Sony, or Gateway.

I build my own desktops and wouldn't dream of purchasing one from anybody. The main reason that they are higher is for their custom cases. My price wasn't too far off, because the HDD cost $500, the MB cost $1300, the Ram cost $100, cd/dvdrom $100, etc. Plus they have great customer support as well as free shipping. Please don't knock them because you don't own one and haven't tried one for yourself.

custom cases huh? check out the chieftech cases -exactly the same except for the "Alienware" engraved, which isn't that great looking anyways, plus a shameless advertisement, and if you want to check out their customer service standards, go to their customer service forums and search for posts by "zpphreak"(he lives down the street from me), he has sent his comp back 3 times, 4th is comming up

1st time - Power supply caught fire, surged the mobo and chip, and video card: they replaced the power supply, not to mention scratched the case horriblr

2nd time - send back to get mobo, chip, vid card replaced, recieved 32 days later -nothing had been done AT ALL - case was scratched more

3rd time - sent back again to get mobo chip and vid card and case replaced, they Replaced the FRONT DOOR OF THE CASE ONLY.

4th time - yet to see, they said they shipped him a shipping label, 2 weeks later it wasn't here yet, arrived yesterday - it was shipped 5 days ago

The best case is the Thermaltake Xaser III. I hate alienware's desktops, but since we can't build our own laptops, there laptops are deffinately the best.

Exactly. I wouldn't get a desktop from them. I only needed a laptop. I have one and as I stated in the earlier post which you didn't fully read, I love it. I never said I had their desktops. I build my own desktops, as a matter of fact, I'm on the laptop right now because I'm installing a liquid cooling system in my desktop and I wanted to take a break. BTW, I have a XP 3000+ processor coming in this week for my desktop. My laptop has a P4 3.06 and hardly even gets warm.

My system:

AMD XP 2400+ @ 2.13 Ghz (3000+ on the way)
1 gig of Corsair DDR PC2700 RAM @333Mhz
Radeon 9800 Pro video w/TV out core @434, mem @720
Windows XP SP 1
Microsoft Directx 9.0b
Antec TruePower TrueBlue True480 PSU
16x Antec DVD drive
24x10x40 Plexwriter CD-RW
1 Westerndigital 40 gig harddrive, master
1 Westerndigital 100 gig hdd, slave
XFX KT400 ALH Via mainboard, 4-in-1 4.48
Thermaltake Aquarius II liquid cooling system
