I posted the following in the "New Website!!!" Topic:
************************************************** ***

"I just finished exploring the site and I would have pre-ordered "MYST IV, Revelation" already like I did "Path of the Shell" except for one concern: I don't want to be penalized for my pre-order by missing the opportunity to buy the "Collector Edition" (http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=132&id=20) like the one offered in the U.K. and which includes a nifty set of MYST Playcards:

Myst IV: Revelation Collector
PC
34.99
available : 30/09/2004

Summary
Myst IV: Revelation Collector includes:
-Original Game soundtracks
-Making Of
-a set of Myst Playcards

http://shop.ubi.com/prod/Packs/imgs_UK/Normal/myst4collector.jpg

Is the U.S. Version complete, including the MYST Playcards?"
************************************************** ***

The Private Topic answer I received was:
----------------------------------------
"...It's not the news you would have hoped for though. There will not be a Collector's Edition for the US. Apparently they just don't seem to do well here as they do in Europe, etc. Canada will be getting a few and perhaps if you have a Canadian friend you can get one through them."
----------------------------------------

(Ensuing sounds of frustration deleted!)

I recently shipped a copy of Syberia II to someone in Australia so they could save some money AND get it sooner.

Is there someone working at Ubi or living in Canada OR Europe who could forward a copy of the "Collectors Edition" to me, or knows of a Canadian store that would?
I'd be happy to compensate for your time and reciprocate in the future if the occasion arose. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I can't help but wonder why on Earth they want to hold out on all the Loyal American fans who LOVE the game and story.

If the games can be purchased by mail through the on-line store, why couldn't they be distributed in the U.S. also? I went through the ordering process at the Ubi store up to the point I found it would cost over $100 with shipping.

Is anyone else in the U.S. interested in buying the Collector's Edition?

Interesting, in the store that I looked in down here in NZ, the collectors edition was the only version of Uru they had So i ended up buying a collectors edition of Uru without even knowing it, and yet they don't even sell collectors editions in the states. Wierd.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif They're also getting it in South Africa: (http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=17374)

"Note: Take 2 only ships to South Africa."

There are people drooling over it in a thread at Uru Obsession. (http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=67&t=12716)

I'm glad I live in Canada, but if they're worried about not selling enough then just make it an online order thing. You have to go online and order it if you want.

Better yet, have a little postcard in the normal game box, so if you want the collector stuff you pay some extra and the shipping, and in a week or two you get a bunch of cool stuff in a cooler box.

EDIT: The way I write sometimes, people might think I'm not a native english speaker, lol.

Well, I bought Exile CE right off. And I'll be buying Revelation at release, CE or not. However, if they don't have a CE out, I'll buy the regular one, and I will not be buying the game again if they change their minds later. I'm sick of that happening with DVDs...

Hmmm... that seems odd to me (I live in the UK) - I would have thought that the US, being a larger market, with supposedly more gamers would be ripe for a CE version...

I just pre-ordered from UBI direct... went through the Myst IV website and got the 5 discount http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif No one else seems to be doing the CE online, so I think that's going to be an online order only thing - of course, I could be wrong http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

That's what worries me. I have the soundtracks to every Myst game, and except for URU, they were all purchased in the CE's.

How are we supposed to get the soundtrack?

$100.00 or not, I may have to purchase the CE from another country after all!

Hmmm... Let me find the information and where I got this info from...

*checking... OK*

When you go through the Myst Revelation website, and solve the three puzzles and watch 100% of the site, you get a link at the bottom of the myst book that says, "Congratulations! You win 5 immediate discout". Considering this was in Pounds, I assume that you must go through the UK version of the site.

This took me to the Myst Shop (http://shop.ubi.com/editorial.asp?voir=453), where there were two versions, Myst IV Revelation (http://shop.ubi.com/prod_extdesc.asp?catalogid=125&id=20) (29.99) and Myst IV Revelation: Collectors Edition (http://shop.ubi.com/prod_extdesc.asp?catalogid=132&id=20) (34.99).

Of course, the price comes down with the 5-off coupon http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmm...I wonder if they'll accept American dollars or if I would have to have it converted. Everything is in French. I can't read it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

When I linked into their home page there were two choice of language buttons you could click on.

One for French,
the other for Tagalog.

(Just kidding, English)

Ah, I didn't scroll down that far. Thanks.

So, I would imagine that the game will come with language options, correct? Most games do, but I'd hate to spend $35.00 (plus shipping) and then find out that I can't get the spoken langauge or subtitles in English!

Also, will they accept American dollars? I can only find info on the cost in British pounds, and I have no idea what the conversion rate would be (or even how to convert it, since I would be paying by credit card; would my credit card company convert it automatically?).

I would expect that I can play the game in English, but would just like confirmation before I spend that much money on the CE.

Also, why does it insist on Express Shipping for 25.00 pounds? Is that because it's overseas?

I'm afraid I haven't got any specific answers. I did notice that, if I went to the page from the links that I posted on this forum, it defaulted to french for some reason, but when I went to the very same links from the Myst Revelation (http://www.mystrevelation.com) 'linking book', it defaulted to English...

You might find that it's a UK/Europe only offer... I honestly don't know. Might be worth trying to get in touch with UBI and asking...

Sorry I can't be of any more help :'(

Yeah, it's great for me to buy from the US, but it's terrible for you guys http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I mean, I can get US$50 worth of stuff for about 28, but conversely the 50 of stuff in Britain goes to around US$73 if you purchase it in the US...

The nightmare of the exchange rate :P

I keep trying to get into Ubi.com's store site's "Ask a Question" section, but it just keeps telling me I'm not logged in. I logged in through the store's main page, and I keep trying to log in through their "Ask a Question" section, but it just keeps taking me back to the login page. I know I'm entering my info correctly, as they said I had logged in on the main page. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've even tried resetting my password, but it won't even let me do that (just keeps telling me I've entered an invalid option, despite the fact that I've made sure to follow their rules on what a password has to consist of). I seem to remember having trouble like this in the past, and I have to admit that I'm not terribly impressed with Ubi.com's user-friendliness (or lack thereof, in this case). It won't even tell me what is invalid about what I'm trying to enter!

What a waste!

or we could see how many people we can get to cancel their pre-orders and wait for a US collectors edition. I know it sounds extreme, but why should we put up with this?? Ubi gave us a nice "screw you", why not give them one back?

Spoilsport! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well Arien - it cost me $125 Australian which is about $90 US using the currency converter linked above.

Come to think of it I think we're being ripped off. How much do you normally pay for a new computer game, $50 US? Well we pay $90 AU (thats how much regular Revelation is) - which comes to $65 US - so we're paying $15 more!!!

That's just it: I've never been able to find the soundtracks to any of the Myst games except in the Collector's Editions. The only exception to that was with URU, and I bought that one directly through the company who did the game. I've never seen them in stores or online, until long after they were originally released. I can now find the soundtracks to Myst and Riven on Amazon.com, but not Exile or URU.

So, will the soundtrack be released seperately, or are you going to have to buy the CE to get it?

AFGNCAAP

Back in the day (gawd I feel old now), Cyan used to run their own webstore. That's how I got a bunch of Myst goodies. You can check eBay if you want to try to find the old soundtracks. I'm sure they're floating around.

Any idea what stores here in Cda are likely to carry the CE? "Canada's going to get a few" What does 'a few' mean...

Also: do you know where I can get my hands on the Uru soundtrack, Cdn source? With trying to ship CD's over the border these days, it'll be Christmas before it arrives if I order it from Ubi's store...

I don't know who would have it... yet. I'm sure there will be a big hoopla about it when it comes out. My guess is EB and stores like Future Shop or whoever has a good relationship with Ubi.

As for the Uru soundtrack, I got mine directly from Cyan. It came pretty quickly and I didn't get dinged on customs charges. Order here. (http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/exchange-glance/Y01Y4676485Y0450944/002-9751971-6044032)
