Have seen rumours of an altitude bug, but don't know any details.

Anyone?

That's a REALLY vague question. The only thing I know about is the lack of high alt performence.

(sigh...)

Okay.

1) Is there an agreed-upon bug relating to your plane's vertical seperation from mother earth.
2) What is it.
3) Why is it.
4) How do I avoid the implications.
5) Will it be fixed in PF (mostly high-alt, ie over 4000m, right?)
6) Thanking you.

It's the extreme alts in the sim that are suspect. From what I understand, over 10,000m the sim is not modeled accurately, it gets some kind of generic treatment for differences in alt. The alt modeling seems ok to me (though I'm no expert) from 0m to 9999m. Some planes have difficulty at high alt where they should shine, but that's a/c FM, not the alt modeling itself. It's not a bug, the game/sim engine was originally designed to simulate the low alt, tactical fights of the Eastern Front. 6000m is my personal feeling for high alt, as many planes, Russian especially, do well under 3000m. I'm not sure it will be addressed in PF, it seems like a pretty basic part of the game engine. In case you didn't know, the Ta-152, Doras, P-47, P-51, P-38 and some others are reletively new to the game. They haven't changed it yet. If possible, I hope they do, but I can deal with it if they don't. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Hope this has answered some of your questions, someone might have better info than me, though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

i think its called "having" altitude

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by tagTaken2:

it comes from the application of power + the use (in the upwards direction) of your elevator

the game engine that FB is based on is the same game engine that PF is based on . . . . . in FB the FM has changes taken into account all the way up to 10,000 m

I'll spare you the long drawn out story....
If your altimiter in cockpit does not match DeviceLink you need to reinstall the game.

If you need further proof you can try playing a few campaign missions. The problem will manifest in the form of a big fat error message when loading the mission.

I heard a rumour that negative altitudes can cause crashes.

"I heard a rumour that negative altitudes can cause crashes."

What about negative speed? I have a theory for this. The more less you'r traveling, the further back in time you go.

My very first Qoute. I bet i'll be a very faimous for this and will some day be in all text books.

Didn't Oleg say something about an improved engine for PF?
