View Full Version : Altitude changes?

I saw a pic on the development update of a Me-163 Komet attacking Flying Fortresses from a "high altitude." Does that mean that with the add-on we'll get to fly our planes over 10,000 feet?

I notice that at the moment some of the planes (like the 190D) get very sluggish around that height. Or am I just not a very good pilot? How realistic is this, given that the ceiling of the average fighter was 30,000 feet?

Cheers

well, the game is in Meters, so 10,000 in the game is 30,000 feet.

the service ceiling of most planes was around 12,000 meters.
with the BI rocket aircraft i managed to get up to 20,000 meters, hell i almost reached 2000kph when i dived back.

Well don't I feel dumb. :-) Does that mean that the airpeed is Kmph?

yes, airspeed is km/h, too.

I also got Bl-1 at about 2000 km/h.

SUPERSONIC, BABY!!

funny thing was this: doppler effect just turned itself off. No sexy sonic booms like in LOMAC.

well its not really supersonic, because in this height sonic is much faster than the 1200kph at sealevel.

and the sound gets really weird then, yes.

Doesn't the speed of sound decrease with altitude?

doh yes messed this up, the heigher the density of the material the faster the sonic.
more height = lesser density of air....
would someone kick my a's please?
