S! all

My squad LeOs.K are proud to present a new dedicated dogfight server.

The server has software made by a Russian fellow Vladimir Lukianovich. It features an advanced system of registration and stats. All maps are automatically generated by server. The outcome of played mission effects the next map played. The planesets seem quite matched now, exept there is not a flyable VVS bomber besides the TB3 - this is of course not our fault...

There is a lot of flak at every airfield and at gound targets - this will hopefully make vulching difficult and force pilots to actually fight, destroying ground targets is difficult also.

The pilots will gain points and their rank will determine which planes they may or may not fly, e.g. I as a Obergefreiter am not allowed to always fly a late model Stuka, but I have to take a B2 model.

Registration to the server is compulsory, also one has to register his/her side, switching sides results to kick from server. Please note that it may take a few minutes after registration before database is updated before one may fly on the server.

The server is accessible via Hyperlobby, ASE and IP. Stats/registration server addresses are:
Bajamaja (http://bajamaja.urli.net/)
Bajamaja (http://bajamaja.homeip.net/)
Via IP (http://212.116.37.18/)

Whats the ping limit? Dont you think its a bit harsh for pilots to keep to one side? You can be unlucky and wind up having 7 reds against 2 blues and both blues happen to be only good at bombing, in turn they will leave and red will be there to complete the mission easier until the map rotates. Im not bashing your server I think its an awesome idea(contemplating which side I should sign up as), its just that somebody will whine in the future about how he was outnumbered and the teams werent even.

Great idea for a server! A speedbar would come handy though...

IIRC ping limit is set to 800 ms.

One can register multiple identities, i.e. one for blue side and one for red side.

If you look at the banner on top of the BajaMaja server homepage (http://bajamaja.urli.net/) you get the idea http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

One suggestion: you should update the hyperlobby difficulty levels, so that everyone can see that there is speedbar and (friendly?) icons enabled on the server - that would attract more people I think.

Just tried it. It was fun until I arrived the target area with my Stuka. There was so much flak it was suicide to approach targets. At 2000m and not still directly over target area explosions where all around me, some things already damaged, player wounded, tried a desperate dive to put my bombs on target, 1000 m lower one of my wings was missing.

I mean, this ammount of flak can be ok for a Coop, when several planes (and by several I would say 10-15 by the amount of flak I saw) arrive at target scene at the same time, and not all the flak is concentrated on a single plane. But on a dogfight server, where the most probable thing is you get to target area alone, that's way too much.

Just my opinion of course, and thanks for your efforts.

HxPrey:

The flak is not impossible for bombers. You just need to take it into consideration when appraching the area. Here's few tips:

1. come to target above 3000m. This means the light flak can't reach you before the dive.

2. Don't fly straight above target with a Stuka. You can do left and right turns all the time to make the heavy flak miss you.

3. Dive and after releasing bombs go low and continue doing evasions.

This way I have done several succesful Stuka runs to the main target with only a few scratches. With Heinkel you can try levelbombing from above 3000m and having someone in formation always helps.

The bombing gives loads of points, but it is made difficult on purpose http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

p.s. The searchlights at night time make the Stuka dive even more challenging http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I know how to dive bomb and with the due respect I don't think I need these tips. That was not the point.

Point was IMHO there's way too much flak (for this kind of mission of course). You think it is right, np.

Thanks for the resonse, the reason I asked about the ping is because I am on a 56k, I ping to WarClouds at about 200 because it is in the States, since Im guess your server is not, I dont know if I will be able to connect, Ill give it a shot though, this server sounds like some serious fun.

S!

56k-ers are the reason for high ping limit. We want as many as possible players to be able to join the fun - even if it means a bit of lag.
