Sopwith F1 Camel. My wifes Great grandfather flew one in the Great War.

Oh! and it's an aircraft, NOT a plane.

I always get the two confused.

My grandfather helped rebuilt one here in canada for the CAHS (Canadian Aviation Historical Society). He built all of the spars, and the rest of the frame. Pretty much everything except for cables and skin.

Would rather see the Italian Front with all those mountains and valleys./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The WW1 a/c for Il-2/FB seems to have died with the death of Il-2 Center./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Remember seeing a Camel or Snipe (real one, not a replica) at an airshow. Later it had a minor accident at Abbotsford(??) and after the repiars it was gounded. That blip-blip-blip as it came in to land is unforgetable.

Those crates are very small in real life. Crazy that people went up to shoot each other in them.
