Ok, I was playing Far Cry, fun fun fun. To get it to run, I was using the Omega Drivers (the one based on 4.4) and underclocking my video card about 20%. It worked fine up through the 'BOAT' level. Well, when the 4.5 came out I installed the equivalent Omega Driver. And now, i couldnt get it to run for more than 5 minutes. Sooooooooo, I went back to the 4.4 Omega Drivers (everything was the same as when it worked) and now i still have the crashing problem. Anybody have a solution?

What type of crash is it? Is it the VPU recover crash? grrr... i just hate that one. I have that problem with my 9600 XT in another computer abroad. I tried almost all the drivers, lowered to 4x AGP, etc.. failed miserable. Yeah, i'm not helping at all... I know. Just a story of failure...

and manson... turning AA/AF off is a bad suggestion! how could you! :P i mean, he bought the card to play use all those nice features right? but... if nothing works... yeah, turn them off... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi there

Do u get any crashes etc, similar with other games.

I currently use ati 4.5. Game works sweet.

Is your system overclocked?(not ur graphic card)

Don't get me wrong this is a great game, but the 1.2patch is very well needed.(can't wait)

The game freezes and i go back to the desktop to see a 'Critical Error' message. UT 2004 and Return of the King crash as well. My system is overclocked slightly. But i didnt change any of that and it was working before. I used the omega drivers orginally so i could underclock to solve my crashing in the first place, it worked. But now i dont know why its back.
p.s. I have tried the 4.5 and it didnt help.

Try this:
1.Turn off Fast Writes in the BIOS and the ATI control panel
2. Set the AGP aperture to 128mb in the bios
3.If your card has AGP 8x, then change to 4x

I was getting lockups and crashes, but after changing these settings, the game runs smooth with all settings on very high.

*Experiment with the game settings until you reach a stable configuration. I.E. start at medium settings and gradually upgrade.

I thought the game was causing a lot of the problems, but after experimenting with the hardware settings and finally getting the game to run smoothly with no problems, I believe most problems were related to my system configuration.

System Specs:
P4 3.06 multi-threading processor
ATI 256mb 9800 Pro - CAT 4.5
1 GB PC2700 memory

Hope this helps!
