View Full Version : Ju-87G-1 gripe

is it me, or has the Ju-87G-1 got it's major cannons replaced by spit-wad-guns? ok, that's exagurated, but still.

Those cannons should be the most powerful ones you are able to control (without going AI-external-only). Instead, they seem almost inferior low-calibre machine guns with extreme low ROF.

please, any comments/suggestions?

I got the feeling that before the patch, they were much nicer and more powerful! (as they should).

Now that I write this, I indeed get the sensation this was mentioned in the README.TXT that came with the latest patch.

They are nowadays more effective against tank than ever before. So I take it you haven't tried them in their real role, have you? Much more destructive than before.

They are simply now what they should have been from the beginning, they are correct. The round that was used in Flak 18 was a solid metal slug cabable of penetrating several cm of steel, and that is what it is doing now. The round contained no explosives, but relied on it's kinetic energy to do the damage.

Bumpinsky.

If you don't hit a tank at the exact convergence point...useless...the projectiles goes through the tank like it is not there...as soon as I get home I will make some screenshots if anyone wants to see the "wonder"...

C'mon, even if I am not destroying them, I should at least see an explosion right?

I agree with Jippo. The new rounds allow you to crack the armor on even some of the tougher tanks much easier now.

They aren't as effective vs. soft targets as the HE rounds were but that is the whole point, they were made for armor.

it would be nice to get the choice in the armament menu of either AP or HE so you could adjust depending on the target you are going after - or in RL did they just never use HE?

It's worth noting that there were pages and pages of complaints [some calling him a stupid ruskie, the usual, etc] at Oleg in ORR after it was discovered that the Ju87-G1/2 weren't firing the proper metal slugs in 1.0.

I agree, it'd be nice to have an HE option, but wow, how I'd hate to have Olegs job :>

incredible how people can be so disrespective to the man who is responsible for such an amazing game just because he gets one of the details slightly wrong

he gets 99% of it spot on - better than anyone else who has ever tried to make a ww2 sim and yet he's a git half the time because he gets 1% of it wrong.

The Ju-87G-1 is much more powerful and realistic now. It can crack tanks open easy if you hit them right.

Exactly as how Ian and Jippo said the JU87G1's 37MM was tungsten core designed to penentrate tanks and had NO explosive and relied only on its penentration. This is what made it a very dangerous opponent to Soviet tanks in Kursk.

I have a v1.11 track G-1 pilot hunting T-34 tanks.
He got 9 out of 12 he shot at. Pilot miss the other three.
Do you want those 35mm rounds to be self-guided?
