I bought "Battle Over Europe" from JustFlight; it arrived quickly, this past Wednesday. Installed without a problem. Began a Luftwaffe BoE Western Front Fighter Campaign/Career. Completed 17 missions, from Normandy(May) thru Normandy(June) into Berlin(September) phases. It is an Excellent dynamic campaign and well worth the price, i thought.

However, today, at end of 17th Mission, it Locked Up totally when i hit the "Apply" button. I waited a patient and hopeful THIRTY minutes, but finally I had to re-boot my computer.

Now when I try to load the campaign to continue on to the 18th mission, I get an error message of "Mission Loading Failed:No Map in Mission File" !!

It's quite frustrating as i was doing this one totally as "Dead-is-Dead" and had survived thus far! Also, I was adding Extensive commentary to my log, with all sorts of details on each sortie/mission. Also, I've been saving *.nrtk Track files, which i'm using to make GunCam footage of each of my Kills, and/or Near-Kills, and was planning an 'end-of-career' history/memorial compilation. I HOPE that I haven't Lost this career now, on the 18th mission, due to some glitch in the program.

I tried a search on this forum but can't find a related thread/answer.

Any help from Starshoy?? Anyone else??

Sorry to hear about the glitch as I am going to run out and buy it. I hope it gets fixed...
Flieger - Can you answer a question for me? Does the COE expansion come with the 2.01 patch for FB:Ace with it? I am curious if Ace expansion and 2.01 patch is necessary to play this new Europe Expansion.

Thanks in advance and I hope you get a fix for your problem. Sounds liek you put a lot of work into it =)

It's not a glitch with BOE it happens sometimes with FB. I have lost a campaign 70 missions in.
It seems to corrupt the mission data when you hit the apply button.

I'm affraid you have lost that campaignhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I never recovered one yethttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

You can start to swear now!

Got BOE myself last week. Started the RAF update campaign & enjoying it very much. I can see why Extreme-one's new campaign is taking longer to finnish if he's playing the BOE RAF onehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looking forward to that one Extreme. How long will it be?

Yeah! 2 weeks!

Well actually I've finally got my computer to stop crashing after a couple of hardware upgrades and am getting some good work done.

I've just completed mission 45 - November 6th 1944 - we've just been re-equipped with our new fighters and are off on a little sortie to test out our new ordnance.

That's all your getting for now. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

@Slight - careful mate! BOE and COE are two different expansion packs. BOE by Just flight http://www.justflight.com/en/(kfujt2zhb5115pr4xtxwnb55)/index.aspx
and COE by GMX media http://www.gmxmedia.net/coe/

Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong but Just flight's offering is considered to be the better of the two - by far. Thats the one I bought anyways cos I'd heard that COE wasnt so hot.

I've never had this problem myself, but you can open many of the campaign files and edit them. Have you tried going into the files and looking at the data to see if you can correct the problem?

The files for the BOE campaigns are found in several places:

\Dgen This is where the a lot of the basic files are located

A few samples for US missions:
\Missions\Campaign\US
and
\Missions\Campaign\US\dgen_a_normandypilotname#

It would be worth a shot to try and fix the campaign. Just be careful you don't alter one of the files from the game or you may need to reinstall the game. Make sure you are looking at data files for your campaign.

The creator of "Battle over Euroe" dynamic campaigns responded to my problem on another Forum. here is what he said, and my response. He Saved the Day for me!

The only thing that can be tried is to edit manually campaign.ini file in mission directory and repeat a line before the last one, may be even several times, it does not matter. Something like:

[list]
20603.mis
20604.mis
20605.mis
20605.mis
20605.mis
20605.mis
20605.mis
end.mis

It may help in case of computer crash or something similar. The idea is to make number of missions in campaign bigger than counter of completed missions. But it won't help if files are corrupted.

Starshoy: Fantastische...Spacibo...A Million thanks!!

I tried your recommended technique, and it worked...I Don't understand how, exactly, and it caused some wierd twists with regards to Dates and Mission Briefings!!! I'll admit I was experimenting with deleting and/or copying/duplicating campaign.ini *.mis entries...and not exactly certain what cominations of files was working/not working at any particular moment!!

Most interesting of all, as the image below of my Logbook will reveal, I found myself flying Several Sorties on THE SAME DAY, which I had THOUGHT was not possible in IL2FB campaigns..!!??

http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/wi/wileycoyote2/KoyoteLogPage3AsOf1Nov44.jpg
Again, I'll admit I was fooling around in campaign.ini trying to make a Fix when all these multiple-sortie days occurred. After I had it more-or-less Fixed, I noticed that the Briefing "dates, (for example a Briefing 'conducted' on 5 October), would result after the mission was completed, with the mission-related data being 'written' to the logbook as having occurred on the NEXT-mission day,(in this case as the mission having been flown on 8 Oct)!!....Weird, but acceptable, over my possibly having lost ALL of my career/campaign!!!

In any event, I eventually moved on from the Berlin phase of the campaign to the Balaton phase, which I begin tomorrow...and it APPEARS that the 1 Nov Balaton briefing IS going to be in Synch with the Post mission Log record!

I am SO HAPPY that I didn't lose my career!! I proceeded thru this period of problem analysis WITHOUT violating my Dead-is-Dead rule for this Career/campaign. Just 27 missions, but a realistic(I think)fourteen Kills, three bailouts, two deadstick landings, and THREE Months so far spent in hospital,I am now off to Hungary to battle the enemy!!

By the Way, "Battle over Europe" has certainly added immensely to my enjoyment of IL2/FB/AEP!! I recommend Everyone buy it!!

Once again, Thanks VERY Much Starshoy!!!
