http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gifI just had to reinstall IL-2 becauce half of certain files were missing and also the Game would not start. What the problem as far as starting up the game was... I don't know why.
But I was downloading a skin from the IL-2Skins and when I went to unzip there was no folder for that aircraft?
I then checked my IL-2 Files and found parts of Skins files were missing... like half of the skins folder was misssing from p-x.
I would think that if there was a problem I would have lost all of the files.
The Skins folder is OK from A - M... but everything after M was missing all of the downloaded and regular skin files. I also found that all the Quik Mission saved files were also missing.
I reinstall the game and everything is OK now except I'm miness the downloaded Skins and Quik Mission Saved Files.
Has anyone else had this problem in the past or recently?

Hmm can't say that it has happend to me. I would check the rest of your system and maybe run a virus check. Make sure you don't have any security holes either. Might just be a fluke but if things dissapear without your permission its always worth running a few security checks. Still some folk just call me paranoid. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

hope you get it sorted though.

Don't un~zip skins to your skin folders. Un~zip skins to a folder with simple name like, say, C:\S. Then copy the stuff you like to your skin folder. (Often I shorten the name of skins....Green=i16fan for example)

Also install FB to default ubi folder, then make copy to playing folder and Patch Up there as well as add stuff there, which if you mess it up you can copy again. You never have to install FB from CD again.

And back up your skin folder on CDs or another hard drive that is not always plugged into power supply.

My ps blew up last year taking out hard drive and other stuff too.

No offence meant, but did you remember to update IL2 to version 1.2..?

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.giftHeBaLrOgRoCkS...Last night before I reinstalled IL-2... I ran a virus scan. I'm running McAfee again today just to make sure after installing the game.
Lexx-Luther... I've been running with no back ups up to this point because I haven't had any problem like this... but later today I'm making copies and using your advice.
Should have done that before. Live and learn.
SUPERAEREO... No... I was thinking about that last night when I was reinstalling... but I was more concerned about what had happen and why... I'm going to redo everything again from the begining today and make Back-Up's.
Thank's for all the Help. I guess with even the best security... things can slip through.
What a Bummer!
Again Thank's to You All for your Help! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Run a chkdsk lately?

Just a thought, files disappearing can be down to file system corruption and/or physical disk failure.
