Transport planes.
There were many air drops in WWII correct? Why not model them? Instead of dropping paratroopers how about boxes or cargo. The idea sounds stupid, I know, but it would add a little variety to those bombing missions I'm so used to.

Boxes filled with ammo/explosives... hmmmm

ahhh its just another pointless idea from a burnout

Yea if she wasn't a nazi and she was still alive,

I'd hump her.

i think it would be fun to shoot the parachute on the ammocrates and watch them smash into the ground in a big ball of fire.

The closest I ever came to this was in the Janes WWII Fighters mission builder. I would simulate a drop of paratroopers and jeeps by having the paratroopers drop as normal and spawning the jeeps through a trigger set for when the planes passed overhead. Then the jeeps would follow waypoints and act out the rest of the mission.

This could work with AAA guns and artillery as well. For example, you would have to escort transports to set up a forward arty or AAA firebase that would spawn at the same time as the para drop. This firebase would then affect how the rest of the mission went. If you succeed, the AAA intercepts the bombers (for example). If you fail, you have to intercept the bombers, yada-yada-yada. Good fun.

as if theres not enough lag and objects already......

However that aside...it would be pretty cool....especially with an addition of the western front (market garden) or maybe even Italy

I don't suppose it would be DIFFICULT to add this feature in. Hell he had a good idea about dropping vehicles in. Although I think it would only work with huge planes like that 6 engined kraut one(dont even give its real name, we know what it is). Vehicles, Food, and other basic supplies. Set up the drop point, and if you hit a box a certain size, mission accomplished. Sorry, just had to add that.
That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Do any of you think this would be added, or if anyone important is even reading this?

Sure we are. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I was using artistic license with the jeep drops from C-47s. But it was still fun.

The mission was to intercept a VIP prisoner transfer from a stationary train to Gestapo trucks. You fly in, cover the transports, and hit the AAA train cars -being careful not to hit the prisoner cars, mission over if you did- and take out the trucks. The transports dropped paras and jeeps to secure the POWs and the jeeps then had to race back to your lines without getting destroyed by enemy armour along the way. You had to hit them too. It was a riot to fly and you never came home with extra ammo. I called it "Surgery".

Was great in WWII Fighters. I'll have to try it here too.

You can do it in Fighter Ace, in the online Territorial Conquest games. Fly a C47, drop supplies, ammo, troops etc. into factories to repair/capture them.

Of course, it's not FB! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If Oleg & co adds triggers&events in the FMB problem is solved. But I don't think it will happen.

it would be very cool to have the ju52 and c47 dropping cargo and to become flyable the germans did use the ju52 as a bomber also and the russians used the li2 as a bomber as well

Hannah Reitsch is the woman in my sig. I don't know about you, but flying into Berlin with an important army figure to meet hitler sounds like a nazi to me. Any lover of hitler is a nazi to me, and she loved him dearly.

Yea I dont know about that lead, the bombload of some of thos bombers just doesnt do it for me man, I gotta have alot of big booms =]
The idea of dropping off cargo or paratroopers is just another little peice of goodness we wont get, but its still a nice idea.

Yeah I was wondering about this idea myself when I discovered that Ju52's and C-47's carried paratroops in this game. In the ancient days of AirWarrior, 3 C-47 loads of airborne could actually capture a base after it had been effectively bombed out of commission, and it added a real sense of purpose to squad missions and the flying experience in general. It wouldn't seem like a whole lot of code change to at least enable troops to cause base possesion to change, but then I'm not a programmer so I don't really know. But I do think it would add a dimension to the game.
