I'm decided to change my graphic card, and i found 3 different models from radeon. I'm confuse!!! WHICH 1 SHOULD I BUY?

I mainly playing IL2 and FPS games.

The choices:
1. Power Colour Radeon x800 Pro (AGP8x/Direct X9) 256 mb DDR3 - SGD888.

2. ATI Radeon 9800 XT (AGP8x/Direct X9) 256MB DDR - SGD785.

3. ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (AGP*/Direct x 9) 128mb - SGD950

(I'm confuse why 9800 pro 128 are more expensive than 256mb?)

Hope some expert can help me here, thank in advance.

The x800 is the latest generation of video card from ATI. It is quite a bit faster than the other two models you have listed, especially at high res with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering turned on, but is also the most expensive (I think?). There is an even faster model of x800 called the XT that should be avaliable now/soon, but at a higher price. Hopefully somebody will provide some links to benchmarks, they will give you the best comparison between the cards.

well if you got the money get the best and latest what's there t think about? If you don't, get a powercolor 256-bit version 9800se and use omega modded drivers to mod it to a 9800 pro (unlocks 4 more pipelines to make it 8 pipelines like the original 9800). I overlocked to 405/720ddr which exceeds the 9800 pro specs. 160$ months ago.
If I were you ide just wait if you can run ure current games fine. Ide atealst wait for HL 2 or Doom III where DX 9b cards will be cheaper and more usefull.
btw www.omegacorner.com (http://www.omegacorner.com) for modded ati and nvidia drivers.

All I can say is that I upgraded from 9600Pro to 9800Pro last week, a Sapphire 9800Pro 128 Mb version. The difference is amazing, much more so than I had expected, which is good! Far Cry runs like a dream, and so does the Il-2 on perfect. When it's properly burned in, I'll overklock it. I really can't see any need for spending more than twice as much for a X800 card. Best bang for the buck - R9800Pro!

Well it looks to me from this web site like the GeForce 6800 Ultra wins in most every benchmark and often very convincingly. Add to that the latest Far Cry patch enables Shader 3.0 (just waiting on Micro$oft to release DX9.0c) indicating that games are already becoming Shader 3.0 enabled, not the long lead time that others have suggested. This all leads me to consider the 6800 Ultra as the *current* king of the castle. It looks like the 6800 GT will be priced well and it can be overclocked stably to Ultra speeds. Wait another month until supplies are available and drivers are sorted.

most definitely the X800pro!

and if you have a little extra in the pocked go for the X800XT! It only costs maybe $50-$60 US more over X800pro and it performs "mucho better"

16x pipelines (over 12x in pro)
faster GPU core and memory

Only "problem" is X800XT is not readily available yet... 1-2 weeks wait is still worth while in my opinion.

Dont even bother with the lower spec cards such as the 9800 XT. Yes.. the X800 is more expensive but the level of performance in some areas is almost 2X that of the 9800, even though the cost isnt.

Not to get into a flamewar.. but the x800 does better on tests on www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com) :P

but both are very very good cards.

Btw... RAAF edin.. the cards are available in australia, right now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

[QUOTE] (unlocks 4 more pipelines to make it 8 pipelines like the original 9800).

What's that? I'm not good in computer. Any tips?

I think i'll get x800XT but as your say, will wait for HL2 & Doom III come out 1st.

Thanks all

Thank G-d I put some common sense into you. Don't be like them people who bought gf3 at 500 bux, they got a cars slighty slower than a gf 2 gts ultra and that could not take advantage of any games. When the games came out, gf ti 4000's came out that were faster AND cheaper, so the impatients bought a useless 500 card.
Wait for those games, by that time time will always bring prices down, bring new competition, new technology, and remember it's AT vs Nvidia so they always fighting to bring new ****. Capitalism das good ya good.
