A lack of references is not the reason it is not being made flyable, it is because someone came to the conclusion that torpedo bombers are not highly desired in a pacific theatre flight sim and so they arn't going to waste their time and resources on making them flyable. I'm sure someone will come in here and say it is a lack of resources, but that excuse gets really old especially when I personally have sat in many of the planes in question (including the Kate BTW).

Edit: Well maybe that was a little harsh. Afterall the game is called Pacific Fighters, not Battle over the Pacific or something like that.

I build COOPs and DF maps. If you would like some of them you can get them atmy COOP page (http://www14.brinkster.com/triggerhappy770/default.htm)

I/JG1 Oesau is recruiting axis pilots who prefer to fly maximum realism. We accept both veterans and rookies. We fly in VEF2, VWF and may join other online wars in the future. I am currently the acting CO, if you are interested in joining please PM me here or page me in HL.

That Kate is merely a replica, a converted AT-6 Texan (very likely one of the many conversions made for the production of Tora! Tora! Tora! -- they fused AT-6 and SNJ wings and nose with BT-13/15 tails, and extended fuselage and canopy with an extra seat added). So the plane, and certainly the cockpit, are AT-6/SNJ and not at all reproductions of an actual Kate, so you wouldn't learn much about a real Kate by photographing the cockpit. They converted 9 planes to make Kates for the film (as well as 12 Zeros and 9 Vals) and I think 4 or 5 of the Kate conversions still survive.

I have inquired about authentic B5N-2s with vintage warbird dealers and museum personnel, and every inquiry yielded the same response ... there are no Kates left in the world. The few that remained by 1945 were used as Kamikaze planes. Well, they recovered the front half of the fuselage and half of each wing of an authentic B5N2 in the Kurils last year, but that's it.

Too bad PF won't have torpedo planes ... the 1% B5N-2 is my favorite plane to fly in CFS2.

Pretty certain that the Avenger is flyable and the Kate may quite possibly be as well. Alot of pessimisim based on limited knowledge of what is actually going to be in the final product.

Plus there's always patches.

I for one will be disappointed in the lack of torpedo planes. I myself am currently looking at purchasing a TBM-7U Avenger in real life. I think the devs are making a BIG mistake if they do not pay attention to torpedo bombers.

Again...how does anyone know its not flyable? Based on the list provided by a half finished French preview copy that dates back a couple of months?

In a combat fligh simulator for the Pacific Theatre, must be have torpedo-bombers based-carrier flyable for recreating reality battles.

Fighters, fighters, a lot of fighters...

... but torpedo attack and bomber attack over ships is the most important feature in a simulator of naval airwarfare...

For fighters, and lot of fighters not needed Pacific theatre, and other simualtor...
