My apologies if this has been mentioned already elsewhere.

I've seen in numerous photos of the Pacific war that temporary landing strips were often made using sheets of metal meshes layed down onto a graded surface. It was a method of making robust mobile landing strips and allowing easy repair after bombing.

Just hoping that the texture artists will go to town on this for our viewing pleasure. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanks for the initiative Luthier. I'll be voting for this sim with dollars (Pound Sterling actually).

It was called "Marston matting".

One of the great innovations of the war.

It was used in Europe and the Med in addition to the PTO.

I would like to see it included.

Ideally if it's just rained it'll be slick and harder to land on, if its been damaged, it may puncture your tires, and so on too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
