Sorry to post this question on this forum, but i have developed a deep interest not only in the airplanes featured in il2 or lomac, but of the Korean/Vietnam wars. Can anyone suggest a good flight sim about that era? Years ago i remembered a game called Mig Alley, is it still a good product?

A long time ago, there was a 'nam sim in EA's USNF/ATF series. Now if only I could remember what it was called. I *think* it was USNF'97, but I'm not totally sure.

Mig Alley was very buggy and has dated. It did have some interesting features like a functional FAC how would mark targets for you but was hampered AI who would crash in perfect formation half the time when making ground attacks.
Going back even further there was a 'Flight of the intruder' game flying Phantoms and A6s in Viet Nam. Really dated but again had some nice features at the time.
Problem with both these settings is that they're not really dogfight theatres and so have perhaps limited appeal.

wow i didnt know strike fighters was 60s based , too cool

personally i wish 1CMaddox games took dogfighting to the next level by doing a korean war sim

a Korean War sim would be the ULTIMATE dogfighting combat flight sim

it would have the most awesome props ever to fly in combat , lookat how many use 44 & 45 planes in FB

this flight sim community would go nuts over a Maddox korean sim , for sure

thanks for your help! Which website are you referring to when you want to keep updated about flight sims? When this strike fighters game hit the market how did you know that this new sim had been released, and where did you get infos and reviews?

strike fighters, make sure you get first and second patch at biohazcentral.com, and get A-7, and other planes to add to sim, works great now with patches and ati 4.1 driver. highly recommend.

I'm sorry but, the 44,95 Euro's I paid for strike fighters, are the worst ever spend. Basically, it is VERY boring terrain, even the cities. The planes fly buggy and requiere constant forward stick pressure (haven't found the trim keys in the manual, maybe it hasn't got any!)

Sound is boring

Dogfights and groundpounding is also boring.

Maybe I am spoiled by Il-2/FB but, I think this is an unfinished product. Hell, why no HUD on the F4 phantom?

I have on my computer a game from '97 about Korea called Sabre Ace. It was my first flightsim and I have to say it was pretty fun. The graphics were no where near il2 and the flight characteristics were somewhat buggy but not too much. It had good dogfighting and ground pounding. You started out in the p51, then moved to the F80, then to the F86 on the American side. If yu chose to fly for the USSR then yu would start in a Yak 9 and then move up to a MIG 15. There was a number of AI aircraft too.

Try http://www.targetware.net/

They have a great korea era online game, and a vietnam era in the works.

Strike Fighters is a big disappointment after playing IL2 and FB.

Instead of working on BOB... too bad Maddox isn't working on a Korean War sim instead.

Get Mig Alley, there's new patches still being slowly released, the same guys who got the source code for BoB also got it for Mig Alley. It's now got things like trackIR support and such. Ten times the quality of Strike Fighters, that was a scam, not even a quick mission feature or mission builder! One is suppose to be happy flying the same circle over and over and over............

Don't even get me started on flight modeling, just remember it's so crappy and easy to roll your own that no two people are flying with the same ones.
