Very good stuff! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Nicely done, Simon!

I got my sixth victory just now, an FW-190 over the Channel, returning from escort duty. I had set up the flight leader's wingman on a bounce, but overshot. Got a burst on the leader and hit, but he rolled right and pitched down just as I did the same but at about 100 mph faster than him. I tore the starboard wing off his 190 with my vertical stabilizer, which I lost. I limped my P-51B home sans stabilizer and managed a fair landing at the airfeild. In real life, this would be one of the situations where the event would lead to a name for the plane. I got my crew cheif on it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I want to ditto what Chuck said, Simon. Since I went back to work I have pretty much had to limit my time to flying one mission a day, and you had better believe that enjoy every minute of it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif .

I appreciate being the number 2 in formations as well . . . I downloaded the track over at the IL2 User's Guide site that dmonstrates formation flying, and went at it again tonight. I can't remember a more enjoyable time just flying to a target. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm about 11 missions into the campaign, icons off, and pretty much full real difficulty, and have 8 kills to my credit so far. This has been fun, indeed!

Thanks guys. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I'm so glad you're enjoying it.

Chuck_Older - after that narrow escape I reckon you do deserve a name for your plane!
In fact, if you want I'll do you a skin-pack - same scheme as the other's in your flight but personalised.
Let me know if you're interested... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That's very kind, Simon

I'd love the personalised skin, but only if it's no trouble. I think you must have things to do besides work on FB stuff

An appropriate name is "Duck!", since that's exactly what I did in my chair as I roared under that Focke Wulf http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Do other things besides FB stuff? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif Of course not! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

How about the Duck pic from the DUCKY.exe icon and "Duck" in stylised text beneath the cockpit?

Sound OK?

Agreed.. very fun! Although, I have to ask.. do you guys fly across and back over the "channel" again without time compression?

(sounds like yes?)

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I did the first 4-5 missions that way and spent hours with just flying and seeing little or no bad guys. It certainly is a big change from the "experten" short-range missions! I just don't have the free time to spend so long on each individual mission.. =/

I am enjoying them very much, though!

Thanks for a great mission pack, EO!

Best,

~T.

I fly some and use 8x some http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif depending on my mood. Sometimes it is cool to practice formation flying.

Having great fun E_O. I will let you guys figure out how many kills I have after finishing mission #9. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

It is a great campaign. If it could have the big boxes of Forts from BOE, it would be perfect. But its still a 9.9 for the Gold Medal. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

I never use time compression. In CFS series I was constantly using the "x" key to warp to the target, but never since IL2, at least not during a serious campaign. IL2's FM's are part of the reason. IL2's graphics are the other part of the reason. I love every second that I am playing, and wouldn't want to miss one second of the flight.

Simon, I lost two planes trying to destroy the ships. The first time, I forgot to set the delay fuse on the 1,000 pounders, and blew myself up. The second time, I was first in (I won't be running ahead of my leader anymore. The guns need something to focus on, and I would rather that it not be me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), and the flack got me. However, last night I managed to finish the mission. I had to settle for one ship, and a good dogfight on the way home (mission failed message, but, hey . . . I did sink one ship and down one plane. Thank Goodness for that no instant success option being turned off).

If I get some good screenies from the next mission I will post them.

It is a blast, Simon . . . and no easy thing to live through when the fighting gets tough.

Good Stuff

You got that right. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Yesterday I was flying escort in mission #11 and after fighting off the 1st attackers the bombers were just dropping their load. All of a sudden BAM! The golden BB got me and instant lights out. There went 1/2 hour of flight time and 2 kills down the drain. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

This is when the mood hits me to use 8x. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
