I've read about how these cards were circulated during the war. Kinda like baseball cards. Didn't some country's do something similar in WWI

nowotny crashed in a Me 262.
was in fight with mustangs after he had shot down a B17.
one of his engines was off and finally he hit the ground close to his airbase .

Germans needed to go as far as Caucasus to defend their country? Something isn't right here.

If I am not mistaken did we not send troops to Europe and the Pacific to defend our country?

Don`t get into politics folks, just say they were soldier and they did what they were ordered to do.

If you think that german fighter pilots are so innocent i can provide you enough material of them wasting civilians on the roads as they were running from occupation. War is hell and no one is innocent.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

The report I read said that Nowotny was on final with wheels and flaps down, one engine out. He was bounced by a single Mustang piloted by R. W. Stevens of the 364th FG, 8th AF, who made one pass and broke off. Nowotny reported his second engine was on fire, hit the ground and exploded. He was a superb pilot and likely would have been able to land the crippled a/c otherwise.

Man, and I thought professional athletes wanted a lot of money for their autographed photos http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Personally, I would pay the money to get one of these photos before I ever got one of an athlete. That is if I had the money although my wife would still kill mehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
