So you people give this game a resounding yes to buy. The only other question I have is there alot of cheating in the multiplayer games, since after finishing the missions this is where id spend my time. Thanks in advance. Please, serious responses only and keep your stupid f*cking responses to your self.

btw what are the best sites to get mods from?

None, ever, never ever ever. I have never seen any cheating. Sometimes during MP games it says cheating has been decected but that is only informing you that someone is lagging badly.

Hey,
There really isn't much potential to cheat in this sim. A large number of the players belong to an older more mature catagory, so they don't feel the need to cheat. It's a cheat-free sim as far as I can tell.

Only been playing a few months, not recently, though.
But I have never seen anyone cheat, hack, or guilty of
anything but the occasional asshat. And the IL2 series has been out for quite awhile.

As to why? I would guess because the FM/DMs are tightly held. Compare it to RB3D, where there are a great many
FM/DMs. I play that myself. And we constantly have the same group of people running speed hacks.

there are no cheat programs for F.B. and if someone says there is they are either wrong or lying. take your pick.

The core of this sim is encrypted which makes it hard to crack.
Other than that you can occasionally see the package drop cheat in use but if the host set up his server ok a large amount of package drop will render u a boot from the server.

There has been a few exploits like hit PrtScr to cause studder to throw of your bandits aim.
But all of em exploits have been corrected by the developers.

And as mentioned this is a mature community interested only in a fair fight.

All these factors together makes this sim pleasantly cheatfree.

They can still use a cheat where they play with the phone jack where it plugs into the modem and also are able to increase their ping (these things cause warping and please, even Oleg has commented on this, so hide your head in the sand if you wish, but I'm not going to argue about whether or not it exists) by using an instant messenger like MSN or AOL to take up band width to get the same sort of warp speed out of their plane. Since the patch, I haven't noticed any other cheats. The way it was explained to me was Microsoft requires that this program cannot disable other programs when IL-2 is running. Now for the good news...

I've hosted since the patch and used IL-2 Manager 3.1 with some very tight settings on the auto-kick feature. Combine this with no warning and you end up with little or no convenient warping. I define convenient warping as warping that always goes in the other guy's favor. Proplem is, you can't tell the cheaters from someone with a poor connection. As a result, I post in the game briefing that auto-kick is engaged and no accusation is intended. Honest players should simply rejoin the game. Actually, I've had few honest players get kicked and the cheaters find out soon enough that they can't pull this cheat so easily. However, they can get away with a couple short warps before being kicked.

Don't be fooled into increasing your kick levels by those who whine that they were kicked (me thinks they protest too much). Explain to the player that they should close out of all programs using bandwidth, including automatic updates, completely close out of IM services to the point where the icon for IM service no longer shows in the bottom right corner of screen and run the freeware program called spybot (DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE W32Spybot virus) to remove spyware that takes up bandwidth and also robs processing overhead and rejoin the game. I've had people play even with the tight settings while their ping rates were as high as 490 without them getting kicked.

I have spend many hours online playin' the original & FB on ubi.com & HL.

I can honestly say that the amount of cheatin' online is not that great (certainly nowhere near what has been seen in avp2 for example).

The majority of people online do not cheat.

You do sometimes see the screen print/warp out the way cheat, but that is not too hard to spot (yes I know connection problems and packet loss can also cause a fair amount of this).

The cheat (that a small number of people use) that does annoy me, is the speeded up computer cheat. This basically makes their plane go faster, either the whole time or when they press their 'fast forward' button.

I also think the settings you play with in this game also affect how successful any cheat is going to be (for example with medium settings it is easier to see what other people are doing).

Of course you can never be certain if someone else is cheatin' or not, but on the whole I would say the amount of cheatin' that goes on is to small to affect online gameplay significantly.

No cheating in the sence of modeling changes as was in CFS2.
Just room rule violators, but they can be avoided by putting a password on your room.

serious answer this time:

you will encounter the message "Cheating has been detected!" when you play online. This only means that somebody is lagging. It does not mean they're cheating.

Take my advice: avoid online play....

Some of my usual online cheats:

ICU_B4_UC-ME.exe
DragonBag script
Crap-Plane hack
CheatIR
Prop pitch on a slider
Trim on a slider

You name it, I use it.

Cheating is not a problem in this game, and will remain that way as long as Oleg keeps the coding top secret. Which will remain until we are long gone I am sure. There are the few who have found that print screen can throw someone off their six, but again it is little more than annoying and easy to spot. As far as the wiggling the phone line that's the first I have heard of it, but sounds as if it is easy to remedy as well. No worries here this is not Microcrap Slightlyflight Stuipdnator.

Man I tell ya, as far as cheatings concerned, this game is a totally different world than CFS2. (Anybody in FB complaining about UFO's, I have 1 comment: CFS1 Hurricane 1's in CFS2, they might as well be flying helicopters. And seeing airplane mods with one or no wings is a common sight in some games).

The only occasion I've seen people take advantage of is no takeoff games some pilots occasionally hit "REFLY" when they're in a bad situation before they've taken a hit, therefore preserving their score, and respawning in a better location. But that's not too common, and for the most part this the best Flightsim community I've been a part of so far.
