Sehr gut!

Thanks for the post! The screen shots are awesome as well! The type-II looks so antique that I'm afraid to get in it! LOL!

Check this interview out! There is an English translation too.

I really like the large unit collection and the differences in freight . And how about the 3D and database tools we will get ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But the BEST news for me is the fact the we can choose to transit to the patrol area 'manually', that means the previously shown automatic transit mode is not compulsory anymore http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

And did you guys notice the Type-II screenshot shows 2 scopes ! So that means its a C or D type.

The 'telephone buoy'? is also a nice detail.

Are the ports this time animated with trucks, humans and other ships and subs?

Yes, there are in development environment elements like harbours activity, sea life etc

The 'autopilot' to the battlezone is now only an option in the realistic-menu?

Of course this excellent Vesikko design was a Dutch design. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW: Why you think it is an II-D and not a II-C ?

Yep, read more about it here:
IvS engineer-office, a German/Dutch dummy company (http://www.dutchsubmarines.com/export/export_ivs.htm)

Did you all notice the screenies are of two different type II boats. Compare this screen shot (http://www.flottenbasis.de/marine_kurier/ausgabe0707_04/bilder/extra/screen4gross.jpg) with this one (http://www.flottenbasis.de/marine_kurier/ausgabe0707_04/bilder/extra/screen1gross.jpg).

Type IIA

http://uboat.net/types/illustrations/iib_2d.gif
Type IIB

Drebbel... Those are clearly two different II-types - a D and mhm... B or C-Type... is really difficult...

Then the question is "C or D" not of interests.

Rather... Which boats are there still?

Ok one... The question whether D or C, have we clarified! Only the question remains around the Kort Nozzles at the type II. The german forum is the opinion that there were none!

http://www.flottenbasis.de/marine_kurier/ausgabe0707_04/bilder/extra/extrascreen2.jpg (http://www.flottenbasis.de/marine_kurier/ausgabe0707_04/bilder/extra/screen3gross.jpg)

Who has information (pics, etc..) prove that the type II had this propeller protection?

I wouldn't say the german forum is the oppinion there were none.

It's rather that Pistolenheld b*tched about them.

I have found a IIC model on the net and the text tells a bit about the Kort nozzles.

http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/dkm/u-boat/400-mirage/mrgu149.htm

Look at the pic closely and you will see the kort nozzles, too.

""Yet they were pressed into war service because the scarcity of ships and only the D variant had legs long enough to reach the western coast of the United Kingdom. This due to the use of saddle tanks, like those found on the Type VII, which increased the bunkerage and Kort nozzles (which were a sort of shroud around the propellers) which attempted to improve propulsive efficiency."

EDIT: Found this on the U-Boat.net forum:

"According to Miller, U-Boats, the Illustrated History of the Raiders of the Deep:
-Each version was slightly longer than it's predecessor.
-There were differences in free flooding slots.
-There were differences in bridge size and shape.
-From the summer of 43 the Black sea boats had enlarged bridges in order to mount AA guns.
-Type IID had saddle tanks, Kort nozzles, and greatly extended range.

Main engines in all models were twin six-cylinder, four-stroke, Motoren-Werk-Mannheim (MWM) RS 1275, Diesels producing 350HP at 1000RPM."
