The Hi-Res thread has plenty. There's just alot others to sort, through. There's one pic of an IL-2 that's torn all to pieces. It legally should not be flying./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Here's one of a He-111 from that thread:

:-p i expected much more of a reaction.... lol....

The battle damage was one of the main reasons i bought this game (the other 2 being Realistic flight physics and a large number of detailed and realistic planes)... and i guess my sentament is not shared :-(

(back when i had the il2 demo, i had an entire folder dedicaded to battle damage/Crash landing pictures....)

could you link me to that damaged IL-2? :-p too lazy to sift thru all those pages ^_^

I agree, battle damage in Il-2: FB is so detailed, realistic, and fun to look at. There's nothing quite like the sight of a plane missing a wing or two, with holes going through the fuselage so you can see through them, engine cowling bent up, riddled with bullets, dead pilot with cockpit windows splattered with blood /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ...I'll have a look in my Il-2 directory (I have about 40 screenshots in there :\ ), but if I can't find a good battle damage picture for ya, I'll give you a suggestion: fly a big bomber and give two to three enemy fighters on veteran level. That always works. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

One of my own, edited a little with Rogodin's generous help. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif If you want to do a little editing of yourself, check Rogodin's tutorial thread (do a forum search).

EDIT: Whoa, just noticed Rogo's beat-up Il-2. I recommend that, that's just about as much damage an Il-2 can take! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

What kinds of filters are being applied to create that exposed photograph kind of feel to the images?

You edit the blood in the config file i seem to remember you change it from 0 to 1 but dont quote me, have done a little picture for you, a full size version is available as is a more aged view. The only original aircraft is the one in the forground, everything else has been added planes, fires, flack etc...even the props /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Play around with the tonal qualities colours and brightness come contrast to give it a more sepia come harsh oldy worldy colourisation.. then use the noise filter to add the graineness on top of that using a light colour on another layer add the verticle scratches etc and then reduce them down smear em and play around with them till your happy /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

yes i use Photoshop 7, you can actually download it and Paintshop pro as a free 28 day trial version.

but if you want a powerful free software to do similar download GIMP just type the word in the likes of www.google.com (http://www.google.com) and it will link you to the program and best of all its free /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
