Thank you to Pr0metheus 1962 who inspired me to make this and who provided the vast majority of the work for Unity.

This is the complete Timeline for Assassin’s Creed in multiple forms. List A includes the different orders to play the games in. List B is a list of events and Timeline for each individual game including the likely time that some (not all) side quests occurred. Some stories will be enhanced by playing through in the order given by List B.


There was initially going to be a general history list, but it felt overly simplified to be a manageable size, but way too big to truly show most major events.

History


In every city in Assassin’s Creed Altair rescued every civilian and reached every high point prior to the next assassination. I feel it’s redundant to say this every couple missions though.


1162 - Genghis Khan is born

11 Jan, 1165 - Altair Ibn Umar is born, his mother dies in childbirth

1171 - Saladin deposes the last of the Fatimid Caliph Al-Adid and forms the Ayyubid Dynasty

1174 - Saladin peacefully enters Damascus and begins taking over Syria

1176 - First Siege of Masyaf, Umar killed after Ahmad Sofian gives up his name under duress. He later commits suicide in front of Altair, who is asked not to tell Ahmad’s son, Abbas. - This was primarily led by Saladin after conquering Aleppo

Altair and Abbas grow up as friends while training as Assassins under Al Mualim.

At one point, Abbas learns of his father’s fate through Altair and attacks him, believing him to be a liar.

1186 - Guy of Lusignon marries Sibylla of Jerusalem becoming King of Jerusalem

4 July 1187 - Saladin defeats King Guy of Jerusalem in the Battle of Hattin, capturing him

3 Sep 1189 - Richard I is crowned King of England and immediately raises funds for the Third Crusade

3/8 - The Mentor’s Keeper - 1189 - Double agent Haras infiltrates assassins and besieges Masyaf. He is killed by Altair who becomes a master assassin while Abbas is forced to wait another year.

1189 - Saladin releases King Guy who then tried to take Trye from Conrad of Montferrat who was effective against Muslims. This led Guy to amass an army and with the help of the French King Philip’s Army attempted to capture Acre.

13 Always an End - Altair kills Basilisk but the Templars manage to kidnap Adha

Altair takes months to find Adha, but she dies before he can reach her. He then kills everyone who had a part to play in her death.

Spring 1191 - Leopold V arrived to take control of the Crusader Army besieging Acre. In May, King Philip arrives as well.

8 June 1191 - King Richard arrives in the camp and takes control of the Army preparing siege weapons

Aug 1191 - Richard, Philip, and Leopold argue over who should control Jerusalem. Richard wants Guy while Philip and Leopold wanted Conrad. It was decided that Guy would continue to rule and upon his death, Conrad would take over. Leopold and Philip both left Acre by August 1.

Apr 1192 - Nobility elect Conrad to rule Jerusalem. 8 days later, he’s stabbed to death by two hashashin with Richard and Guy expected to have been involved, however no proof surfaced. Guy was then declared king of Jerusalem and Cyprus, but continued to lead conquests to capture Jerusalem.

1195 - Maria and Altair marry. Later that year Darim is born is Masyaf.

1197 - Maria and Altair have a second son, sef after a visit to Acre (we see this in AC2)

1199 - Richard died of a crossbow bolt to the chest

1202 - Fourth Crusade Begins to recapture Jerusalem through Egypt.

1204 - Altair is spreading the Assassins west and visits Constantinople. He is forced to flee during the sacking at the end of the Fourth Crusade.

1206 - Genghis Khan is declared Great Khan of the Mongols.

1212 - Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa marks beginning of Christian Reconquista in the Iberian Peninsula, the majority of which is 1230-1248.

1217 - Altair believes Genghis Khan is being aided by a Piece of Eden and rides east with Darim and Maria to assassinate him. Malik is left in charge.

1221 - Fifth Crusade Ends with Egyptian Port Damietta being captured by Crusaders and withdrawn from. Venice makes a trade deal with the Mongolian Empire.

1223 - Republic of Venice formed, the Mongol Empire defeats Russia at the Kalka River while being defeated by Vulga Bulgaria at Samara Bend.

28 Aug 1227 - Genghis Khan assassinated by Darim and Mongolian Assassin Qulan Gal.

1228 - Altair, Maria, and Darim return to Masyaf and are met by Swami. Swami informs them that Malik was imprisoned after he killed Sef. Darim rode to Alamut to find the truth. The next day Abbas (who is the current leader of a council that formed due to the absence of Mentor) tells Altair and Maria that Malik intended to usurp the position of Mentor and killed Sef. After reflection Altair and Maria snuck Malik out of prison and he told them that Abbas staged a coup two years earlier, killing Sef. Maria and Altair left to confront Abbas, during which Swami killed Malik and brought his head back to Abbas.

5/7 A New Regime - 12 Sep 1228 - Altair and Maria confront Abbas, who questions their motives of seeing Malik (whose head he has), turning the other assassins against them.Abbas asks for the apple of eden in return for the truth. Altair obliges - in an attempt to use the apple to kill Swami and Abbas - when Maria intervenes. Swami kills Maria, and Altair kills Swami. Altair then escapes with his son Darim.

1229 - Sixth Crusade ends with Jerusalem under crusader control.

1230 - Depressed from the death of his wife, Altair hates the apple, but throws himself into studying it, even finding hidden memory seals in the Isu Vault hidden below Alamut, where he lives with his Daughter-in-law and grandchildren while Darim is warning France and England of the mongols.

1240 - Mongols capture Kievan Rus

1241 - Mongol Empire defeats Hungary and Poland ravaging them.

6/7 The Mentor’s Return - 1247 - Altair journey’s back to Masyaf, slowly winning over the assassins as he does so with moderate arguments, helping the poor, healing the sick, and presenting designs to tradesmen. When Altair reached Masyaf, he ordered his followers not to kill anyone. At the castle, Abbas confronted Altair and sent his assassins to attack Altair. Altair in return uses the first known use of the hidden gun, and shoots Abbas.

1254 - Seventh Crusade ends after Crusaders withdraw from the captured city of Damietta again; the Ayyubid Dynasty is overthrown.

1257 - Altair invites Niccolo and Maffeo Polo to Masyaf and teaches them the way of the Assassin’s Creed and his life. Niccolo records it in a journal for his son Marco. Altair’s secret library beneath Masyaf is finished.

7/7 Passing the Torch - 12 Aug 1257 - With the Mongols coming near, Niccolo and Maffeo are forced to leave Masyaf. Before departing, Altair gifts them with five memory seals to hide through Constantinople, a mission to set up guilds (they set them up in Constantinople and Venice), and the Codex.

9/2 Lost Legacy - 12 Aug 1257 - With Masyaf evacuated, Altair says goodbye to his son, and locks himself in his library, sealing away the apple, and imprinting his last memory onto the seal as he sat down, and died.

1258 - Baghdad is captured and destroyed by Mongols.

1269 - Marco Polo recovers the codex from Kublai Khan

1279 - Song Dynasty ends and all of China is controlled by Mongolian Empire.

1406 - Florence takes over Pisa

1414 - Giovanni de Medici strengthens Medici bank and personal power with the introduction of a proportional taxing system.

1434 - Giovanni’s son, Cosimo the Elder becomes gran maestro, the Medici become unofficial heads of state of Florence until Lorenzo died.

1447 - Visconti dynasty dies and Milan becomes a republic instead of going to Orleans.

1450 - Francisco Sforza takes control of Milan

1453 - Fall of Constantinople marks the downfall of the Byzantine Empire and rise of the Classical Age of the Ottoman Empire

24 Jun 1459 - Ezio is born

1469 - Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile marry, Spain becomes unified.

17 Jan 1473 - Caterina Sforza marries Girolamo Riolo who becomes Lord of Imola (a Sforza city) after Pope Sixtus buys it using money from the Pazzi to spite the Medici.

1475 - Pope Sixtus appoint Francesco Salviati as Archbishop of Pisa

1476 - Giovanni intercepts assassination attempt against Galeazzo Sforza. He learns of Rodrigo Borgia planning with the Barbarigo and informs Uberto Alberti and Lorenzo Medici, while later confiding in his wife that he fears a conspiracy will arise against the family.

26 Apr - 20 Oct 1478 - Jacopo de Pazzi is dragged back to Florence and executed along with 75+ other conspirators. This is delayed in game for gameplay reasons, not historical accuracy

1492 - Ezio returns to Florence chasing after Savonarola and bumps into Borgia Guards who know where he is. Ezio confronts the monk but is told that he is Marcello Savonarola, Girolamo’s cousin. Marcello then tells Ezio that Girolamo is in Venice.

12 Oct 1492 - Columbus arrives in the New World

Sep 1494 - Charles VIII of France invades Italy, threatening Florence. Friar Savonarola believed it was a biblical prophecy come true. Savonarola intervened and the ruling Medici were cast out of Florence and Savonarola helped build a “popular” republic. Pisa liberates itself from Florence.

Feb 1495 - A new political party rises under Savonarola, who as a cleric could not be the official leader. Christ is declared King of Florence and Savonarola holds the first bonfire of the vanities.

Mar 1495 - Savonarola is asked to Rome by the Pope and (under a ban) preaches for a reform of processions, bonfires of the vanities, and pious theatricals.

31 Mar 1495 - League of Venice officially established to combat France.

1495 - Ezio arrives in Venice and is met by Teodora and learns of Lorenzo and Rodrigo Borgia. At a square Ezio meets Piero de Medici and fends off an attacking Herald after learning of the truth of what’s happening in Florence.

21 Jun 1495 - Ferdinand II, King of Naples begins winning back Italian Territory from Charles VIII with the help of Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba. Charles VIII withdraws from Florence. Genoa, Venice, and Milan supply Pisa with the means to fight against Florence to stop the republic from growing.

1496 - Ludovico Sforza invites Maximilian I into Milan to help Florence and Pisa settle war. Sforza’s pro-Pisa leaning made Florence wary and continue war. League of Venice weakens. Bartolomeo d’Alviano join with Orsini family to fight Pope Alexander VI.

1492 - Rodrigo Borgia becomes pope and allows Jews into Rome. Cesare Borgia becomes a Cardinal.


12 Jun 1493 - Following the annulment of Lucrezia’s previous engagement, she marries Giovanni Sforza, the illegitimate son of Costanzo I Sforza.


Sep 1493 - Juan Borgia becomes 2nd Duke of Gandia


1494 - Gioffre Borgia married Sancha of Aragon and obtained as dowry the Principality of Squillace, and three years later the Duchy of Alvito


27 Aug 1495 - Caterina Sforza’s second husband is murdered


14 Jun 1497 - Following a luxurious feast, Juan Borgia is killed. His two brothers and the Orsini family are suspected, and the investigation was dropped a week later. Around the same time Lucrezia Borgia retired to a convent awaiting the annulment of her marriage after her husband accused her of incest.


Sep 1497 - Caterina Sforza marries for a third time to Giovanni de’ Medici il Popolano


Dec 1497 - Alexander VI declares that Lucrezia’s marriage to Giovanni was not consummated and Giovanni was forced to sign the confessions of impotence, annulling the marriage.


Feb 1498 - Pedro Calderon (a possible consort of Lucrezia) and a maid are found dead in the Tiber River. A month later she is accused of giving birth to Giovanni Borgia which is officially declared as Cesare’s or Alexander VI’s in conflicting Papal Bulls (but never Lucrezia’s).


1498 - Christina Died in the bonfires of the vanities. Other Christina missions are not included because they entirely take place during AC2


1498 - Lucrezia Borgia marries Neapolitan Alfonso of Aragon


17 Aug 1498 - Cesare Borgia renounces cardinalate and becomes Duke of Valentinois under Louis XII.


9 Mar 1499 - Alexander VI abolished feudal lordship taking away Caterina Sforza’s right to Forli. Caterina begins petitioning Florence and Tuscany to help keep her lands of Imola and Forli.


1499 - Alfonso of Aragon becomes Governor of Spoleto, and soon after flees to Rome.


25 Aug, 1499 - Venetians lose Battle of ZOnchio to Ottomans

1526 - Shao Jun returned to China and invented the Rope Dart. She met with Wang Yangming and opened the box that he thought was a precursor box. It was empty, but they decide to use it to help her exact vengeance on the Eight Tigers.

1830 - Maharaja Ranjit Singh obtains the Koh-i-noor


1839 - First Anglo-Afghan War - Arbaaz Mir finds map of precursor artifacts and temples and is tasked with protecting Ranjit Singh who was going to be attacked by Templars.


June 27 1839 - Arbaaz Mir buy’s Hamid’s slave Raza and goes to Ranjit Singh’s palace. He meets 2 Templars, Pyara, and obtains the Koh-i-noor. He’s then jailed by the British Templars and released by Pyara who then goes with him to the Palace to save Singh. Singh is poisoned before they get there. The Templars call the guards and Pyara uses the Koh-i-noor to scare them. The Templars shoot at her and destroy the koh-i-noor. This causes an explosion and kills the Templars, but the artifact reconstructs itself and Arbaaz gives it to Hamid. - Maharaja Ranjit Singh dies and is succeeded by his son Kharak Singh
8 Oct 1839 - Kharak Singh is dethroned and imprisoned by his son Nau Nihal Singh


5 Nov 1840 - Kharak Singh dies from slow poisoning in prison. Nau Nihal Singh goes to his funeral and is injured by falling stones.


6 Nov 1840 - Nau Nihal Singh dies. His mother Chand Kaur stakes claim as regent until Nau Nihal gives birth.


18 Jan 1841 - Sahib Kaur, wife of Nau Nihal Singh delivers a stillborn. Chand Kaur steps down as Regent.

1889 - Nikolai loses his child somehow and becomes angry, focusing only on the brotherhood

1908 - Nikolai captures and tortures a Templar named Dolinsky to learn where the staff of Eden is.


30 June 1908 - Tunguska Event - Assassins raid a compound to retrieve the staff of Eden. At the same time they used Nikolai Tesla to test a weapon from America using the apple to destroy the compound. The staff was destroyed and everyone but Nikolai died.

12 July 1914 - Khionia Guseva attempted to assassinate Rasputin


Feb 22 1917 - February Revolution


1917 - Nikolai was tasked by Lenin to find the staff and kill Tsar Nicholas. Nikolai spares Nicholas and destroys the replica of the staff that he had while learning that Grigori Rasputin has a shard of the staff around his neck. He later learns from Rasputin’s former apprentice that the staff shard healed him.


3 July 1917 - July Days


1917 - Nikolai dug up Rasputin’s grave and found the shard around his neck.

1918 - Nikolai, Anna, and Nadya escape to America, Anna gives birth to Innokenti

1919 - Anna and Nadya are separated from Nikolai and Innokenti during the Palmer Raids


1921 - Nikolai learns that Anna and Nadya were deported to Finland, but could learn nothing else and settles down in Connecticut


30 Dec 1922 - USSR is officially formed


1926 - Nikolai is tracked down by Sergei and Nikolai kills him after Sergei threatened Innokenti. Innokenti began being trained to fight by Nikolai, expecting more assassins to come.


1928 - The assassins came after Nikolai and Innokenti. Nikolai is shot and can’t move, and Innokenti shoots him and the last attacking assassin before escaping.

@cawatrooper Yeah, I used the AC Timeline quite a bit, but I didn't think it was necessary to include every scrap of lore, as the main purpose was to explain the full story in each game(s). Most dates came from the AC Wiki or from researching the events happening.

I'll also be editing all of the timelines here to better match the Google Doc one.
