Hi all,

Thanks for your comments. I'm very pleased that you like the new version. Every new version is always a lot of work but worth every second when I hear that folks enjoy using it.

Hi Leadspitter, There's sadly no way to send your choice of markings to others. I know that skin download can be a problem with big skin files but can't immediately see why the game couldn't send the markings files as they are so small. Typically an aircraft only has two or three very small TGA markings files (circa 65kb) each.

For example a VVS aircraft typically has one red star graphic, one or two numbering graphics and that's it. LW aircraft have slightly more eg. one or two balkenkreuz graphics, one or two numbering graphics, the gruppe symbol graphic and the hakenkreuz. Obviously there is a legal issue here with the hakenkreuz. So if one adds it up then that's a total of six TGA graphics files of circa 65kb each (uncompressed).

If the game can send your regiments graphic in dogfight missions then IMO it could also send these markings. The game wasn't designed with this in mind of course so that's the reason.

Best Regards to all

I think if oleg decided to add them in game "which i dont know why he hasnt replied back to you about this matter:, there would be no need to send the tga file simply a text or java flag how the in game markings show with no need of sending the tga file.

The in game mats are so horable and I really hate the wrong positioning of numbers on some aircraft. Also the no mat logos on half the aircraft just numbers while the other half have mats numbers and regiments.

It really seems like a unfinished job which you did all the work already just someone from 1c needs to add them into the game.

As someone who use to enjoy making regiments aircraft schemes, and pilotskins. I really dislike that skin dls eliminate all of them now. I really do not notice any difference in servers with skin dls on becuase the skins transfer so slowly it does not effect game play.

I wish they had 3 options we can turn on or off

aircraft skins 1024x1024 on/off
aircraft skins 512x512 on/off
pilot skins on/off
regiments and logos on/off

I heard you can put the skins in your cache as well as your skin folders with skin downloads off and if someone is using the same skin name you will see it online when skin dls are off.

I tried this and have not seen it work.

I know i certainly stopped making aircraft skins alot becuase they take so much time and every single server has them off. It really feels like a waste of time and the main reason I dont do aircraft skins much anymore just different themes with old templates i made.

Sharx spends so much money on www.il2skins.com (http://www.il2skins.com) for us, and so many of the skinners spend so much time on the skins. Ubi gives us a seperate forum section which is great but I just wish they would do something to get hosts to start skins online. Like the 4 options toggle on/off. Im sure you spent so many months making the mat program and doing all the pilot skins cockpits and markings. Since il2fb/aep aircrafts and maps are going to be compatible maybe there is still time to add your mat program in. They certainly have to do something about those none light reflective mats the look so horable on the japanese aircraft and british aircraft.

These are really good and I`ll always thought that the standard markings were VERY bright and unrealistic. If I were making skins they would ALL have a scratch, used, mucky look to them to some degree.

So great stuff! Now if I can just get it to work for me....

Hi guys,

Leadspitter, I'm with you all the way m8. What I'd like to see is the same as you but with one slight difference. A lot of folks like being able to choose alternative markings such as the faded desert/tropical ones or the various levels of weathering. This would also include those for nationalities not currently included such as Bulgaria or Australian, Canada etc in lieu of true incorporation of these nationalities.

What I'd love to see is a proper interface built into the game where these markings could be selected. I really don't now why 1C have never replied to any of my e-mails. With a bit of help from them there are things that we (Grat, Andrew and myself) could address straight away. Yes the cache folder is the way forward, Grat and I are working on this at the moment. Perhaps my greatest frustration is the areas on the skin and the way that they are tied to certain graphics eg. balken3.mat and its associated TGA on all three postions on the late-war LW aircraft. I have many sets of markings which I have produced which I cannot incorporate because of these limitations.

SeaFireLIV please e-mail me and I'll do all that I can to help you get things running. I've only had one case so far where, despite trying everything that I could suggest inluding throwing in the kitchen sink, that I haven't managed to get to the bottom of the problem.

Best regards

@ Aces_High_2

I got it working! Excellent! Your previous versions were a little hard to get around but this one seemed very straight forward.

I can also see the hard work you must have put into it. Thankyou. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks blackwulf, appreciate the comments m8.

Well done SeafireLIV, pleased that you managed to get it all working. I know that it's less than exactly straight forward but we are working on that.

Cheers m8
