Easy solution: Don't quit FB! (How is that done anyway?) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You should probably post this in the tech forum. I'm sure someone there can help.

Happens to me also. Usually after coop missions, not so much with dogfights, with DF it closes in a few seconds. For me it takes usually couple of minutes to close FB coop, sometimes more, up to five minutes. I think it has something to do with my 256 SDRAM. Playing with low RAM is ok but starting the game and closing it is pure torture. If I remember correctly, this is not a problem when ending offline game (not sure about it, has been a while since last offline run).

I've been getting freezes/crashes too but in-game rather than when exiting. It means that I can't host as often as I'd like now... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Playing with 265MB RAM forces IL2FB to use a LOT of HDD-space (Up to 1 Gig).

If it takes unnaturally long for FB to quit, it's not a problem of the patch, but of the lack of memory, either RAM or Diskspace. To speed up the process try to defragment your System-Drive and check you've got more than 500MB of space available for the swap-files!

Hope it helps!

thanks for the replies guys!

i am running 512Mb RAM and a p4 2.5Ghz cpu so i dont think RAM is the issue here.

it freezes the pc when i try to quit the application to post results to VOW etc, it freezes regardless of what activity i am performing in FB.

maybe it doen't want to be closed down!
spooky messages here.

Thx for reminding me, it has been a while since last defragmenting /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif . I have set 1 Gig of swap space and it is surely the minimum for me. Also the patch has only a few sound disappearing flaws, but otherwise it really was worth waiting for.

yes i agree, the patch is top notch apart from a few minor problems i'm generally pleased with it.

the engines sound awesome, especially the LA5.
and the MG's of the I16 type 24 are really satisfying.
sound glitches apart.

not a defrag issue either as i only just reformatted the HD.

I had similar problems with the out-of-the-box version of FB. I updated my audigy drivers and away went the problem.

I hope you are in the same situation, because it's easily remedied.

Good luck
