Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

listen to the sound of that thing! that's one toy that you don't let the kids anywhere near...
also notice how unlike the 262 in FB it didn't at any time spontaneously combust... clearly under-modelled http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Speaking as a builder and flyer of quarter- scale aircraft, I can assure you that this aircraft is no "toy". It is really a miniature version of the full scale one with all the same complexities regarding design, building and flying. It takes many, many hours to perfect its functioning and to make it safe for others to enjoy.

Yep this is no toy. Notice on the vid there is another guy standing on the runway...usually that would be a big no-no becuase people can be and have been killed by these things hitting them. The pilot is clearly very skilled at landing tho, you will want a pilot like that becuase crashing them will cost you much $$$$

A freind of mine married a woman who's father makes miniature jet engines like that. Outstanding landing, but that stopping distance is overmodeled. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That's gotta be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The "pilot" must be one heck of a r/c jockey. He made the landing look a lot easier than it probably really is.

Talking about those engines and accuracy, I would say that those miniature jets are probably much safer and effecient compared to the historical ME262. So it`s not really a great idea to compare the WWII jet to these better modern ones.

He's too busy appearing in court for having put a Swastika on his plane to care about that. I'm not joking I posted a link to these vids when AEP came out in the US so I don't think anybody really noticed, but he is facing either 20 days in jail or a 1000 Euro fine.

I went out to an R/C Jet show out here in Phoenix about a year ago, and they had some badaxx planes...F-16s and F-18s with retractable gear...Jet propulsion with these planes doing seriously 180+ mph.

It was the best airshow I had ever seen bar none. If you ever want to be impressed, go to one of those R/C shows and you have HOURS to slobber on yourself.

There is a sad story about this RC. I read recently, though I can't seem to find the webpage now, that the guy who made and flew this R/C 262 was sent to prison / or was fined for a VERY large sum, as he had painted the German swastika on the model. This guy is German and the swastika is forbidden in Germany. I am quite sure this guy in no way wanted to make a political statement, but rather make a historically correct airplane.
I think it was about 1000 Euros or 20 days in jail.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I think it's sad when you see German Death Cards
on eBay & it's illegal for it to be sold there.
It might not be the proudest moment in Germany's history but it's still somebodys son, husband or relative & they have no right to it.

IMO if it's for historical value it should ok.

Man,those things cost MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYY http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
1 jet engine alone,a good one and for the size of that model a 2000 euro's PER ENGINE I guess if he has good ones. and then comes the hydraulic landinggear thats another 2000 for the entire plane's hydraulics, then the controls, another 250 euro's(for the case you control it with, the radio control unit ) then say a good 500 on the materials, wood etc + reseach bleuprint copy's...(some make'm out of bleuprints and copy'm to the desired format/size)

I'm guessing 15 000 EUROS for that plane.

Cool thing though. But I think you can make the "engines" big enough for them to house 2 propellor's but thats isn't verry good for speed/stability http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I went to a model plane airshow in a small town near my town, and they had quite a number of jets there... 50% crashed and burned, a F-15 with two engines lost radio contact, and so did the second plane which was an American "lightning", but it was recoverable since it only landed hard, but only broke the belly a bit.

There were two Eurofighter models which flew perfectly together and their landing was even way smoother than the one in that video.

There were tons of other interesting planes of course, but I just wanted to comment on the landing quality.
