It's a fine pretty little liaison aircraft, but what purpose in Bob?

Cheers,

only a handfull of the A/C that will be in BoB will be flyable

namely : the big players

You will get to shoot it down as a Tommy.

and get to make sure Tommy doesnt shoot it down as a Jerry.

from what i understand it was a woderfull flying little plane i doubt it would be flyable but if it was it would be a plus in my book oh well

I still don't understand the purpose of the 108. Only a utility plane, problably only there in a few numbers as a staff plane and of course never engaged over enemy lines.

I would by far prefer if modeling work would be done on more interesting AI aircrafts like for instance Sunderland or Whitley.

In a short resume, pretty but useless.

Me too but... given that there's the 108, maybe there will be these too, no?

I LOVE the idea of flew flyable, lots of AI!

A!

Flyable Bf~108 would make much needed trainer for flight sim Newbies, like U~2 and Stroch could have made great trainers for FB Newbies, instead they get dumped into Fw~190 out of the box.

They didn't have the mk108 cannon in this stage of the war. Didn't come until late '43 or so. If the Germans had it then, the outcome of BoB would have been much different.

I thought the same when I saw the thread name http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif,"108"(plane obivously when you think about it)but the thread name is misleading http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If it was flyable there could be a whole flying training aspect to the sim, add the same for the allies, 2 planes would add hugely to the sim, in many respects moreso than 2 minor combat a/c.

I totally agree with CHDT, why spend time and effort to create a "sportsplane" for BoB?
I am sure there are other and more important types that will be missed on release

I`d rather have a trainer then 5 useless AI-planes . I would love a virtual flight school and I hope that the FM will be so advanced that we`d need one. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"flight school", "training aircraft"!!!!!

For what purpose?

My 8years old niece could take off and land a Mustang in normal settings after a ten minutes training. That's pretty realistic, everybody knows that the training of a WWII fighter pilot lasted usually half an hour http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

In fact, only a drunk monkey piloting with his feet should need a training aircraft!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But when you say: "I hope that the FM will be so advanced that we`d need one".... I can only agree with you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Your neice is a sharp young thing then cos my friends (IL2 Newbies) cant take off and land without crashing about 5 times, and they're all adults!

A well scripted flight school would be brilliant for BoB... it would increase the immersion factor (great for hooking in the player/simmer), it wouldnt need to be very long ( you could have the option of doing the full training (which during BoB wasnt very long, for the british at least!!) or skipping it) and above all would be a great way of making an otherwise very intimidating flight sim accessible to a wider audience WITHOUT sacrificing realism, only the steepness of the learning curve! Because flight training is something i have to give new players anyway. old hands could just skip it. I think training aircraft would be a great idea. for BoB that is, too late for IL2.

There again - a nice selection of trainers would be fun. And - i suspect - there would be few complaints about the damage model ... how ofen would a human pilot volunteed to fly combat un-armed ... (thinks ... how do we adjust war rules to encourage pilots?)

Please do remember there are other uses for this sim besides just combat.

Let's see ...
Po2
Tiger Moth
Harvard/Taxan

There must be more ...

The 108 was a revolutionary plane when it was designed. It deserves to be flyable even if it is only a trainer.

Next thing I know the Lysander and the Bird Dog will be in BoB. Hey! Lysander vs 108 theres a fight. Like the special olympics of the air. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hmm, the Lysander was used in the Battle of France. But they were severly mauled in their operations (recce -(very)light bomber). And switched to other duties (dropping off people behind enemy lines) that are better known.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the drunk monkeys. There are a lot more of them than you think.
