Was wondering if that was in the works. You and a friend making a stand (not sure whether it would be till you died or reached a set number of waves) against an army of enemies, Maybe throw an objective or two here or there to keep things fresh and earn some xp and iron.....or whatever they call their ingame currency for your heroes. Like holding an area or killing another elite Hero to make the trash run away or something. Thoughts?

This sounds like a good idea a couple of suggestions I have are :

Different enemies on different waves (i.e. minions first wave, 1 warden and minions second wave, 1 warden and 1 raider and minions 3rd wave etc).
Should be 4 player (back fill with bots if not enough players).
Objectives should be included (i.e. 1 wave hold objective C, next wave hold objective A) to make people move around a bit.

Hell Yea. Maybe we are protecting the King while the castle is being stormed by enemies from all directions. We have to get him to safety by escaping the kingdom.

The first wave is in the Kings chambers where we go to escort him out of the kingdom.

Once we eliminate the first wave we proceed to Castles main hall where wave 2 attacks.

Once we eliminate the second wave, we proceed to the courtyard where wave 3 attacks.

This could continue through the different areas of the kingdom until we successfully escort the king to safety.

sounds good, but the campaign can be played in co-op as well, wouldn't that kinda be the same?
but a separate wave mode would be nice and add to replay-ability.

Campaign mode has you play as a specific character/s throught the story line and changes as it goes. This would be your multiplayer class/characters as well as your friends and allow you to unlock and progress in another manner other than pvp. Just more as a way to break things up and give you another option.

Another scenario, though similar in nature. The kingdom has been overrun, and defeat is inevitable. But instead of laying down your weapon and bowing to the invading King, you would rather fight and die with honor. So you pledge your allegiance to your king and fight a never ending enemy assault until your death. Taking down as many as you can.

Pretty much a survival horde mode with a back story.

yeah sounds liek a good idea, but not sure how they would do it, as trash mobs would be kind of pointless to use as they are so easy to kill, it really depends on if they can throw more that 4 bots at you at a time.

but i would definitely be up for a wave mode. can't hurt to have one.

The trash are doing what they are supposed do, which is swarm over you. 1 isn't a threat but 10 of them are. Throw in some medium levels threats like mid tier versions of current class enemies from anyone one of the 4 factions (Apollyon's faction might contain all of these faction classes and if so would be the enemy of this mode).

Also the map would decently large enough and have changing objectives to keep things fresh like they are attempting to capture an area and it is your job to keep any enemies higher than trash out of the capture zone for a period of time. Success would grant xp and a chance at a loot roll failure would give you a debuff of sorts like now the enemy has taken the area and archers can now take the occasional pot shot at you, that you must parry to avoid damage (you know that would feel epic cutting an arrow in half).

Imagine being at the top of a set of stairs leading into a Samurai temple as Apollyon's forces charge up towards your team with your current objective being quite simple.....no one gets in those doors you are guarding.

Another example being that her forces have pushed you into a Knight's castle's central chamber and you must push them all back outside while preventing them from destroying the throne, it's shiny so you don't want that to happen. once outside you then have to take out some archers that have taken up residents on you inner wall.

Every now and again though you would have to fight one, or a few of her hand picked lieutenants as a boss battle that would try and separate everyone involved for some dueling action that could end up being anywhere from 4v1 in your favour, to an attempted 1v4 against each member of your team gasp*. Randomly selected, their number as well as their class/archetype each would have a variety of tactics and strategies needed to be beaten to progress to the next set of waves. XP and loot to be gained from these fights as well. All culminating into the final battle with Apollyon herself as the last boss should you make it. Which of course would cue the heavy rainfall too. I mean what good final sword fight doesn't have rain-falling in it. Though she has brought a few more friends that must be defeated to get her to become active. Though they are used to soften you up for her cause if you want something done right it seems you have to do it yourself. Suffice it to say having multiple people versus one person would be very unfair. We should have brought more.....though to clarify I think this mode would be good for 3 people maybe four. With three it's one per faction but you can't have all classes and would need to make a choice about what archtype you wouldn't have.

Actually, unless in combat with a Hero, the soldiers aren't a threat at all except to assassins. Contrary to popular belief, you can actually block the soldiers attacks by having your block in the "up" position.

Sounds like a great idea. I especially like the idea of having a backstory and playing through certain areas.

Oh and it needs to be fully available to offline. There's absolutely no reason to have online-only requirements for single player-capable, PvE content.

I support this idea as well. Using the weaker campaign captains in large numbers with fodder AI and a few tough bots as the rounds go by until the team of 4 and their respective fodder and captains are beaten.

Certainly a good idea. Especially with the combat systems that are already in place. It would be good for practice, and the game needs variation anyways, in terms of the gamemodes. I'd like some kind of PvE outside of the campaign, too. It'd definitely keep people playing longer. Like Horde Mode in Gears of War 3, which is still fun, because it gives the game longevity.

I second this. Sometimes I just want to blow off some steam and kill some bots though not in a campaign environment. You've been playing GoW 4 haven't ya judging by the comment XD?

There's a thread in "Suggestions and Feedback" about this. post your thoughts in there and it might get even more attention!!

Survival here would be great for blowing off steam and challenging if they implement the various enemy types seen in campaign missions with a boss wave featuring Story Characters with more health every so often. Could be great!
