Welcome to IL-2.

You should find that info in the manual. If your version didn't come with one there's a PDF Manual on the disk.

Also try the Mudmovers site @:
http://www.mudmovers.com/sturmovik_101/FAQ.htm

Make sure to patch up to 1.2. Patches on the mudmovers site also. See 'Essentail Files'. Two word of warning on the patches;
1. Install them in the proper order. (Info on download page)
2. If you want to do the training missions, do them then patch. The patch(es) corrupt the training files. There are some training files out their you can download that have different training in them, some will require the 1.04 patch.

Many will suggest buying Forgotton Battles. Good advise but, you'll need a high end system to make it look and play as well as IL-2, and it needs patched. Hopefully the patch will be out soon. Also if you play online you won't find too many IL-2 rooms. Most online flyers are doing so in FB. Currently I have IL-2 only, I'm waiting for the patch before I buy FB.

Again, welcome. You'll find this to be an exteremly helpful community. It's the best I've found on the web.

thanks for the welcome guys. i have started to do the patches that came with the game but am a little confused as to the sequence and if they are all on the cd (focus version) some of the patches seem very big to down load. i only have dial up..can they be got from a cd?

there was a thread in Olegs ready room recently about where to get the original IL2 patches

patch 1.1a then 1.2 (forget 1.2ov its unnecessary)

You need a detailed info on all guns and load? Cos there's much to say http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There's no place to get them on CD. It's a long download for dialup. The best to get around that is to find a friend who has a fast connection and get a CD burned.

You need patch 1.1a first, then 1.2. If you decide you'd like 1.2ov (it enables you to use voice packs), then you have to install it after 1.2. That's all that you need. Avoid using the French servers, as there have been problems with using some of those, though I don't know why. It would really suck to download one and then not have it work.

If you live in Europe I might be talked into burning a CD for you and mailing it to you.

Cheers,
Mike

3DGamers mirror site will burn CD's, but they charge a small fee. I've seen someone post that they had 3DGamers post a CD to the UK at quite a reasonable price.
