Idea:

One part of flying sims is that they really lack game modes of play.

While we concentrate on new aircraft, etc... what is really missing in this market is some mods.

If you look at successful fps type games, they typically create several game modes in which to play.

One example would be a 'coop type dogfight', where you are fighting over territory.

Seems that instead of just concentrating on different theaters - would be nice to have some new game modes besides just dogfight and coop.

ie. I just got this new mod for Call of Duty called Heat of Battle. I'm not a big fps fan, but it was a nice change of pace. In this game mode, you have to capture and hold several spots on a map, using teamwork. The winners are the ones that use teamwork best. This mod doesn't even keep individual stats, just points based on teamwork.

Very cool stuff.

It would be a breath of fresh air to have some new game modes in this genre.

Thanks

Instead of restarting the map, the frontline would move as you capture key points. Capture in this case would be destruction of a target. After destroying it is conquered, but then becomes a target for the other side.

After 'x' amount of these are held by one side, that side 'wins' and the next round begins.

It would need some auto balancing aspects, and only destruction of a key point would give a side any type of points.

note: I know some of the scripted servers do something like this - and nothing against those, but I am thinking of something a bit more polished - that is built into the game as a mod.

Perhaps the ability to create game modes (not FM changes or new maps - but game modes) would stir some more life and attract more people to this game.

Perfect ideahttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
It should be looks this way. On start you have only 1 base on each side. and fronline between.
Made several important points of fight with a ground targets - if you destroy minimum 75% of ground targets frontline changed and you can get new airbase (closer to frontline)
Next: planes setup: should be made blue/red for the same year of production.

Can you make this? we can check it online on HL

Interesting.

So there'd be a grid of sectors and targets would have to be destroyed to remove enemy presence from there and install your own.

This would be interesting although it may prove to be impossible with the current game engine. I hope they take notes for BoB.

Has anyone here tried Aces High? I know, old game, but good concept.
Not only did you have to destroy enemy presence to get the base, but you also had to get your own troops into the area, e.g. driving trucks with soldiers or dropping paratroopers.
Now, driving trucks in il2 is maybe a little too much to ask for, but if some paratrooper-planes would be made available, even if simplified (no great cockpit), I think we could have even more intense hours infront of the comp with the game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

im aware that this might not be implemented in this game, but who knows with future games?
