nice graphics is one thing..

Buit if BOB has as much atmosphere as Il2 has it will be just as boring to play.

Nice looking planes are fine, but you dont even get a cut scene for a medal/promotion/good mission, nothing.

EAW had a better grasp of the atmosphere, combine the 2 and it would be a ace game

wow so is this the new BoB spit?

I think the modder said it was like 12500 poly's and that the BoB max poly count was 8000.

Salute!

Araks did a nice job on her. But as stated, the poly count is still a tad too high.

Good looking planes are nice and all, but when you are playing a flightsim, you see mostly three things. Or four things. Or a few things.

One is your cockpit. Which is what make IL-2 so great - great pits.

two is the ground. Il-2 is good at rendering the ground from high up, but not great. it could be better.

three is the weather. Il-2 has poor clouds. And repetitive weather. Thunderstorms are nice, but you never see overcasts. You never fly above the cloudlayer and see a sea of white stretching to infinity. And you certainly never see new or interesting shapes in the clouds, or different kids of clouds, or intricate paterns when you are skimming clouds.

I would rather BoB use all the same A/C models from IL-2 as it is now, and have them focus on the ground and weather effects.

Yes thats the model for BoB, I doubt the quality will decrease noticebly when Araks chops the polygons to Bobs reqs. I wonder how will it look with skin on it... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

could you imagine that with a awesome skin on it ?

BoB is gunna be awesome

Yeah that Spitfire is looking mighty good. I'm sure the poly chopping won't do it any harm in the end.

I do agree with rugame...the BoB sim needs some serious atmosphere. Sound effects, music, interface...drive it up to the next level and make it very memorable all around. Although the top priority is still a highly accurate flight simulator.

Yes to more complex weather too.

Are you guys for real? We are talking about the future here, next generation computers and software. 64 bit, PCI-E, SATA etc.If BoB will run on today‚¬īs computers its a complete failure. Take look at this

I provided my own atmosphere. I imagined Vera Lynn singing "I'll Be Seeing You", and added a little cigarette smoke and a ******ss.

cheers

Damn *****, that stupid fly! It‚'s been a looong time since something impressed me that much. Holy crapping ****, if the final version looks half as good, then I‚'ll happily remortgage my home to pay for the computer needed to run it. Of course, things always look more impressive when they are in effect ‚"future‚"Ě technology, and by 2006 it‚'s possible that other games might have impressive graphics on par, but still, damn is that fine!

In the Netwings forum, it states that the final poly count has yet to be decided for any of the models, but I'm in agreement with the hardware required...push it.

I'm picking up a nice new 22" LCD in a week or two. That should get me started. I'm waiting to begin a new build to until Fall.

I know I may be in the minority, but external 3D mode improvements are not as important to my immersion as other things. Proper perspective in the cockpit, terrain pallette and mesh, realistic sound , more realistic cockpit controls and instrumentation, and flight models that don't feel like you are on rails are far more important to me than adding gobs of external model 3d polys. These are the things I am going to be really looking for in the new (limited scope) sim.

I agree. Especialy, id like to see the advances in graphical technology used to efficiently generate lots of reasonable looking aircraft ( although with perhaps more advanced damage models ). Striving for the holy grail of photo realistic graphics is important, but not more so than the game its self.

The game should dictate the gfx engine, not the other way round http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif.
