I was wondering, can you map a JS button to use as quick forward view while using Trackir?
Seems like it might help in dogfights and ground straffing.
thanks

Quick forward view? It doesn't get much quicker than turning your head a few degrees.

If you want to center your view, you just press F12.

"Son, never ask a man if he is a fighter pilot. If he is, he'll let you know. If he isn't, don't embarrass him."
Badges!? We don't needs no stinkin' badges!

Yeah, center view is what I meant.
So my sight would stay dead-on even if my wife smacks my head to get my attention.

If you want to maintain your current view direction regardless of how you move your head, you will need to disable TrackIR. F9 toggles it on & off so your head movement no longer causes view movement.

you need to center your view (F12) before disabling it (F9), otherwise you view will stay at the current position, instead of at the gunsight... that will cause you much trouble http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

In the Natural Point program, there is a mappable button for "RECENTER" that does what you describe.
I'm forgetting what is the default - F11 maybe..?
I've set mine to recenter when I hit the "0" on the number pad since it's easy to find in a pinch.

I'd wait about a week and grab a TIR 3 with 67% more resolution and 120fps. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

After using TIR2 for 3 days, frankly I don't think any improvement that is really necessary, As far as I see it is working flawlessly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, it's subjective and I have both TIR1 and TIR2. Many people can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps or mouse sampling between 100hz and 120hz but I can and every little bit helps.

That said, you can't go wrong with a TIR2.

I use a Saitek X-45 and have the pinkie switch mapped as the center button. In a pinch when zoomed in with the gunsight it can help to just grab the pinkie switch and hold it to steady the view for a shot. I don't use it a lot any more since I got the dead zone adjusted correctly, but I still use it in a pinch.
