It suddenly dawned on me that due to the outstanding level of realism especially with the crew and their management to the level where you will get to know their names, their moral, their skills and to what level you have trained them up during missions to the degree that they will be your virtual workmates, I see a BIG problem and its this.

Because of this level of realism you may physically feel bad, sick and/or get very upset when you lose your U-Boat.

You wont just say " aaw well lost that sub, lets start again"
<No way husay>
Instead I'll bet that you will feel sick and depressed that you lost your sub and your crew.
So be prepared for this and if needs be seek councilling from family members, freinds etc. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I used to get quite "niffed" at losing a sub after say 5 patrols in SH2 it will be magnified in SH3. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif

A special councilling forum may need to be set up to console people who have lost their subs in SH3.

omfg redterex, do you need a psychologist? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

the only thing which could happen is that you feel angry when you travelled for a long time and then lose your boat...like it was in SHII http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif but i wouldnt break out in tears when Bootsmaat Schmidt is dying or something...

im glad that it is possible to create such a relation to your crew...thats what we call ambience little friend http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

Will certainly be something! To nurse wet behind the ears, green crews, at the start of ones campaign, and "See" them mould into an effective fighting unit.
To loose just one, would be a psychological blow..
Can't wait!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

RedTerex, I will feel the same way I have a feeling. Ive been on the game The Sims and lost some good characters. Ive been on some role playing games also and lost characters to accidents. These instances have saddened me. The best we can do is not take crazy risks. The dev team mentions and warns about taking the crew for a wild ride all over the atlantic and taking them through a wreckless ride to their deaths. Things like letting them use the deck gun in stormy weather will get them swept away. Forgetting to tell them to come in when you crash dive will make moral dive aswell as they scramble for the hatch. Even hurt crew members or missing the target. Humm could we name them I cant remember if we can give them our unique names. Maybe if you name them after people you dont like you would feel less attached. People I work with and a few politicians I would like to name. I would make them all grease monkeys and torpedo polishers. LOL YEA! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

With the crew performance and fatigue dedrigations,i hope they dont go the way of H.M.S. Bounty.

Being in the service is not a domocracy, u do what ur told, when ur told or face "Severe" punishment.

Even if bad weather, injury/death, damage, degrades moral, performance, etc. The "Crew" should not force the Captain to head for port...

The level of immersion (no pun intended) during gameplay of this superb subsim will hopefully be as the Devteam intend, ie, meggafantastic.

I envisage it will be more of an epic saga, unfolding each minute of play rather than 'just' a game.
I mean come on, its like watching a movie on the TV as it is, what with those great graphics and atmospherics. I mean LOL one of the Subs crew even scrathes his head whilst contemplating strategies..now thats the DevTeam being immersed too LOL.

The more you put yourself into a game like this the more you will get out of it, yes I know that SH3 is 'just' a game but I like to imagine its kinda real and that WWII IS raging away albeit in my PC. That way I get more out of it.

Sad, get real, get a life, warmongerer, NO. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

PC fun seeker, for a good laugh, yes ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I might petition for umbrellas during stormy weather for the lookouts http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You will most certainly be able to save the game. Otherwise we'd hardly ever finish a patrol, as there just isn't enough time. But using it to ressurect your crew after they die? I could never do that.
