View Full Version : Why the patch is the way it is.....

First let me say these are my opinions and mine alone. These do not reflect the choices of 1c. and Ubi.

I believe the patch has a few things missing because of all you whiners out there. All yall have done is whine about where's the patch, is it done yet, why hasnt Oleg responded. Of course Mr. Maddox did announce that the patch was to be released shortly after AEP was released, but did you ever stop to consider that he has a family and business to run? He went to China, had a healthy child, flew to E3, and those are just the few places we know of.

Some of you probably have no life but FB. Ill admit Im hooked to this game, but Ive played tons of PC games that needed patches but I was willing to wait however long it took to get the game right. We get the patch and there is even more whining. It seems to me that all your crybaby stories and bickering has lead 1c. and Ubi to release what they have gotten so far just to shut you people up.

One could say that if you dont like the way the game is, go find another combat flight sim...but the truth is there is no other compared to IL2 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Of course this could have been their plan all along to release half now and half later but thats not none of our business.

Once again, these are MY opinions and dont reflect 1c. or Ubi's choices as to why it was released.

You are about to embark upon a Great Crusade toward which we have strived these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking" - Gen. Dwight D. Eiseinhower-Supreme Allied Commander.

I tend to agree VR.

I'd have to say that given a lot of what I have seen on these forums that this is the worst group of ingrates I've known.

I'd also bet that 95 percent of them would ***** if you hung them with new rope. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

What whining? All I've read is positive posts. I'm sure there must be a few whining posts out there or you wouldn't have said so. I believe this is the least whiningest patch that they've ever released. And I believe it is because they took their time with it and got it right.

Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong about it, Im just saying that when it was released there was more whining than praise. Mostly about the few things that are missing, obviously the few things that are missing are still being worked on. But due to the whining I believe thats why it was released without everything completed, but as I stated that may have been their plan all along.

Im happy with what I have, if the game has bugs and is promised to get fixed Ill deal with it and adapt. Too bad I cant say that for other community members. Ive seen a member post about taking a "vacation" from playing it due to the bugs, thats understandable, but to whine about things that they know are getting fixed is annoying.

That's a bit harsh m8... there was stuff that was proper broke in AEP and their still ain't a proper dedicated server patch, guv'ner.

A hasty patch was required...

...but hark, there are still rumblings afoot of Ju88s and flyable B25s in the distance. That will be the real patch - the one that will fill the void in you aching bosom.

Well, you'll like that one more... probably.

Oh boohoo!

How many customers do you think a business whould have if you told them 'Sorry I can't get the prodcut to you as promised when I promised in writing becasue I hade personal business to take care of. 1C is not a one man run show. It has a few hundred employees and wether or not you have trade shows to attend is no excuse. I'm a telecom engineer and we have shows all the time. We send folks all over the world to these but we dont stop production.

Oleg could have take all the time in the world to get the patch/add-on out if we would have had some news. Not jsut when its done its done kinda stuff but updates like they are doing with PF and BoB.

The facts are the patch was needed to fix issues with the game as it stands now. I could care less about add-ons and such jsut fix the exisiting product. Get the server software that is needed for MMP which is all many really play the game for and let add-ons come when they come.

I dont think this product was rushed. I think it was late and as such I will hold no reason to appologize for my post about wanting updates. We read week after week about PF and BoB but this is IL2FB and AEP website so I say WHO CARES! I'll browse those websites if I want news and updates on that. I fly AEP as does most here and that is what we care about.

All that was being asked (or whinned about) was were is the updates for AEP? Where is the dedicated server software to run AEP and online wars that make more people interested in the sim and buy it?

Thats all anyone was asking for. So in response to your post about "Why the patch is the way it is" whats your point except to try and get olegbuttkissingfanboypoints which do nothing to support your position.

Ok FIRE AWAY!!!

Jeez, I don't understand all this stuff! So far, and I'm going right back to the release of IL2-Sturmovik, I've spent 70 on 3 CD's. That's less than one tyre on my motorcycle, or a night out on the town, and yet I still see people whingeing on about the producers' obligation to "the community" and then comparing it all to the performance of giant corporations which receive millions of pounds weekly from their customers.
Don't forget...the combat prop sim designed by the biggest corporation of 'em all is a POS and has never been supported to a tenth of the backup that IL2 has.

I don't suppose the rivet-counting anoraks amongst us will ever be satisfied, but I certainly wish they'd stop spoiling everyone's appreciation of the work already done.

Ya know bud! This has to be the silliest post I have ever read?? You are admonishing the community as if we were children and YOU the guiding Father figure. Rediculous, and I take offense! Go away.

Fact: UBI Soft and Mr. Maddox are in business to SELL games adn make $money$. If they produce good Games and support them then they will sell more. If they don't, they will evaporate into the Games history book of Flops.

Now, if you want to pay some mis-guided homage to YOUR SIM God go right ahead but please don't admonish us for not complying with standards you set for yourself.

Oh yeah, I can't wait for Pacific Fighters...How soon?

@Hartmann, the point of the topic was about the patch for AEP "only". Of course the original product will be released with bugs due to the different computer configs. And maybe, just maybe the patch was to inculde "everything", not partial. Thats why I wrote this post, because people are whining about rushing it instead of getting two seperate patches.

@Capt.LoneRanger I do have a life outside FB, I does seem as though Im entering the "DarkSide" of whining, Must-resist...... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif Point taken though, with all this whining around me I seem to be getting sucked in.

@TheEngine88.....I might get banned for this but....... Its out of RESPECT......******* http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif

Well lets see I have a wife and 4 children but I still have managed to make it to work everyday and get the job that Im paid to do done. As Im sure many people in these forums do. Oleg dont need people to make excuses for him, Im sure if he felt he needed to justify or if he was bothered by the so called whining he would respond himself.

You think that you are defending Oleg and his crew with your post, but what you are really saying is that they are not above petty forms of "punishment" when people complain. If you don't have the professionalism to rise above the complaints and whines of the minority for the sake of all your customers, then you shouldn't be in the entertainment business.

I personally believe that how long a patch takes or what is added has little or nothing to do with the whining on this board.

Never ceases to amaze me how a simple opinionated discussion can turn into a flame thread. Maybe all opinions should just be banned completely. Everytime somebody says something that doesnt agree with other community members it turns into a flame fest. If you dont like whats been posted keep you mouth shut or at least keep you replies ON topic. If it bothers you that much there is a nice little button on the right so you can report it.

I don't get it.

What is the point here.

One got tempted by the dark side, er, whining side and after the topic was really discussed, some people think they have to counter-whine or flame, or whatever you wanna call it.

_VR_ScorpionWorm has something you flamers don't: He admitted he may have seen this wrong. But you continue to pick up a fight long after the topic was cleared out.

So, who's really whining here?

I'm am NOT trying to be insulting to this poster by no means. My goal is to increase clarity of 'How thing's work'. Large sucessful international companies don't make this type of business decision based on a few hundred (or less) forum participants. Do not misunderstand. They might well indeed use forum participants for feedback, ideas and suggestions. At some point they have a plan, and a tenative timeline and certain criteria that determine major actions, (like patch releases for example). It is HIGHLY, HIGHLY unlikely that forum 'whining' (whining is a term I have come to hate BTW), or the lack thereof would have any impact at all on the release date of a patch. I'm sure I haven't explained it very clearly, but I hope I have given this poster and others who might believe along the same lines a bit of clarity or at least something to think furthur about.

@JimRockford...no offense taken, I understand completely on what you are saying. It was a comment on which I based what I felt. Its opinion and not fact. Why the patch was released like this we will never know, its none of our business. Like you stated, 'at some point they have a plan....', very true. I was just expressing my belief as to why certain things were missing. It is not fact, just an assumption. Of course you got community members who cant help but turn a topic to a flame thread just because they dont like what they read. A reply like yours is more civilized and keeps the flame away. After careful rethinking my actions, which made me look like a complete @ss, I decided that I should have put a third thought into posting such an opinion, knowing that somebody would have taken offense(typical).
