Waitress: Well, there's Pacific Fighters, egg, sausage and Pacific Fighters. That's not got much Pacific Fighters in it.
Mrs. Bun: I don't want any Pacific Fighters!
Mr. Bun: Why can't she have egg, bacon, Pacific Fighters and sausage?
Mrs. Bun: That's got Pacific Fighters in it.
Mr. Bun: It hasn't got as much Pacific Fighters in it as Pacific Fighters, egg, sausage and Pacific Fighters has it?
Mrs. Bun: (over Vikings starting again) Could you do me egg, bacon, Pacific Fighters and sausage without the Pacific Fighters then?
Waitress: Ech!

Waitress: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Bloody vikings. You can't have egg, bacon, Pacific Fighters and sausage without the Pacific Fighters.

Yerrmmmmm........... just how exactly?

Anyways, more chewing over of the new logos over in a thread in the PF forum:

Actually it's the other way around.

Anyway, I tried to download both logos and install them. But I can't seem to get them started. Is it because of my graphics card? I have a Gf4200.

They look fine. But I have the same question that was asked earlier. What is the reason for different logos, Europe and U.S.? Does this mean a large differential in release dates again, and concern over gray market?

With currency differences, would it be possible for distributors to buy in the U.S., and resell at a profit in Europe before the official European release date?

The experience with staggered releases for AEP may be on someone's mind. Otherwise, the different logos don't make a lot of sense (assuming the product is the same).

Can somebody please show the point of having 2 differnt logos, which look alike on the first glance?

Where is the point in having a "special" logo for the Europeans? Do we feel better with a different background for the letters? I remember the time, PAW had just been released. It features an American formation of Dauntless bombers with a carrier in the background. It was the very same logo, the folks in the US had. The logo looked awesome and hit the nail on the head, as the Pacific War is basicly US vs Japs, so everybody expects to see a US or Nip plane on the cover.

But that background is a cool idea too..i bet it was UBIs idea, wasn't it?

Yep, there seem to be two versions, the crappy european one with planes flying according to biased wartime reports, and the nice US one with FM and gunnery reworked from the nice crimson skies simulator and the most accurate data borrowed from pearl harbor like movies.

I've seen these logo's a long while ago.. Nothing new... I don't understand the hype.

I find your above comment pure BS. If these sims were as god awful as you claim them to be, then I seriously doubt that you'd be playing them, let alone visiting these forums and posting nonesense. American planes are what they are in the sim, and if you don't like it, get a degree in aerospace engineering and make your own sim and model them as you like. I'm sure 1C would love the competition.

I agree the European one looks better.

The European has a japanese flag like scheme, and the marketing chaps at ubi thought it won't appeal americans so they changed to american flag like colours for the amy version.

There are still people around here that made more than cheesy remarks, not only to board members, but to development team alike...

Interesting you made this remark in public anyway. I thought you knew better as a mod. It seem you have chosen a side....

Cheers

It is amazingly funny that the developers have choose to make separate logos for different countries. Why make it simple when it can be complicated? Really dunno...

But this is by no means limited to UBI company. A majority of game devs around the world do the same kind of stuff with games. I wonder why.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Bottom line: cover will make no difference, like LeadSpitter ironically says.

nearly 100% of the time it is the publishers that make the logo's. They have to feel they are doing something so they usually go and **** them up along with the boxes.

Erm... publishers are responsible for pretty much the entire game through design documentation, contracts etc.

It's exceptionally rare for a developer to be given absolute free reign over the way in which any game is designed and developed.

As for horror-mouth (Hoarmurath) i'd tell you where to go.....but then i'd have to draw you a map...give you directions & provide you with a GPS just so you could find the damn place.
Altho i'd probly have to take a few days 1st to explain what a GPS is & provide you with a map reading course before you could embark on your trip to Hell. but i won't bother to tell you where to go as it would be far to much trouble on my part. When the sun rises in Europe, its still dark in America.
P'raps this is Ubi's way of telling us that this time Europe will see the game released first and the US will have to wait a couple of weeks before any copies are available.

What`s always amazed me is how Britain always gets a logo/box art that`s quite different from the US, or vice versa, even if all that`s on the front is a universal type symbol... It`s not just FB but with everything, from sweets to tv adverts.

I guess it`s all about maintaining each countrie`s different identity in a primeval ancestral tribal sort of way. I understand.

We are so similar, yet so different! Humans, eh?

Anyway, it`s just a logo, it`s what`s inside that counts!

logos are OK, but I look forward to the game more.

Amazing how people here can turn anything into an argument. Mind you it's why I visit these forums. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Looking at this again (with my art hat on...)

... I should have mentioned that making conclusions on these logos is a little mistaken.

It`s like comparing a painting without its frame.

Why? Well we do not have the backgrounds that these logos will appear in front of. The European logo looks worse cos it`s mostly white against a plain white background (the UBI page), wheras the US Logo naturally looks better cos it`s a mostly black logo against a white background.

It may be a different story once the Artwork for the boxes are placed WITH the 2 logos.

Well not that it matters but I think the logos look nice..........but....

I still can't get into the name. Not that I have a better one, not that it doesn't work. Yet just to me the name alone doesn't catch my eye and make me want to check it out (if I didn't know what it was).

Don't get me wrong, they could name it anything and I'd like to get it....Just a 2cents-after the fact-doesn't matter anywho thing.

Nay. That traditional assumption of whitish Zeroes is a fairy tale made eternal by model kit manufacturers and Hollywood films. To know real facts, read this thread and the links related later in it.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

After it was refeuled i climbed in.With many manipulations the mechcanics started the turbines.I followed their actions with the greatest of interest. The first one started quite easily.the second caught fire.In no time the whole engine was on fire.Luckily as a fighter pilot i was used to getting quickly out of the cockpit. The fire was quickly put out.The second plane caused no trouble - Adolf Galland (first time in a ME262)

Mmmm, no updates, no patch...

Maybe those insipid logos are there just to conceal the fact they haven't fed the masses here for more than two weeks... they just had nothing better to show us... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

Because, believe me, this is too boooooooring, yes, it's booooooooring, how boooooooring... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

What's next? A photo of the mouse and tablet they used to paint the logos...?

Not simple at all

US navy fighters were only midnight blue late war, early in the war they were a two color lighter blue.

As for the japanese teh navy and the army zero's were totally different colors .. did anyone else notice the incorrect army color scheme on the zero's in the movie "Pearl Harbor" ???
