Dear Mr. Maddox,

I recently begun to work a little with the FMB and found the weather options insufficient. It has been said quite often, that it would be nice to set up different weather for certain regions. While this might be too much to include in the FB engine, it should be possible to include a cloud coverage option. I have noticed that "clear" features no clouds, but every other weather option has the same number and type of clouds.

I'd really love to adjust between no clouds and an overcast sky with as small steps in between as possible.
Thank you.

BUMP. In the extreme kinda way. I for one would like to see this advance for FB, but if they made it for PF I would happy. The cloud coverage is quite bad and even if this taxes the game with FPS o well we are all building massive machines anyway trying to get 100 fps. why not push the limits then go down.

As I said long time ago.... Something that would be awesome in this simulator is to have overcast... Imagine a big dogfight on top over a big white layer of clouds. Even the old " aces over europe" and "aces over the pacific" by Dynamix had this! or imagine taking off at ur base and then imediately after a few 100 feet u are inside some low layer clods and then it doesnt clear up until reaching say 15000feet. It also would be great for hiding in case of meeting big formations of enemy fighters!!
anyway, I have a dream...

I agree.

Also, wouldn`t it be great to have DYNAMIC weather in the course of a mission offline in Campaign and even online?

Obviously this could be set as an option.

eg: Medieval total War has a wonderful(simplified) dynamic weather system. Through the course of a battle you can have Sun, drizzle, rain, heavy rain, heavy winds back to clear but dull, then sun!

Something like this in FB, PF and BOB would be excellent!

i doubt it will be done in IL2 or even PF. However, BoB will be another thing..

Hmph, Targetware has this....

They may not have big fluffy singular clouds (yet), but multiple and variable and fully controllable cloud banks, layers and overcasts? CHECK.

Could we get this forum's name corrected? I think 'Stigler's Target Rabual: Perfect Airwar Simulation' would do just right.

Nah, it's not perfect, by any means. It's still beta. But it is more accurate than this one. That's all I'm saying.

Actually this wasn't something that crossed my mind until I read this post, but, yeah, great idea. One long thick bank of cloud, with textures showing thermals and different cloud structures sounds awesome. Also the thought that the enemy are beneath me, unseen and could rise out of the clouds at any time......fantastic. So to recap .....BUMP!

Dont hold yer breaths guys. Oleg may give you a few more planes but with the 2 new releases in the works. IL2 is going to be left high and dry. He wont even fix all the problems, why would you think he would incorporate a new climate system.

FB has gotten more fixes and addons than any other game that I can think of. Please, point out another that got so many addons, fixes, free content, and the like.

Weather is a definate downspot in this game...as is some aspects of the sound quality (the volumetrics are great, the quality is somewhat generic). Next game I expect improvements to both. Of course, thats what a new engine is for...need I keep saying it.

People should start talking about what they should add in a new engine, not attempt to re-write the book on an engine already well over 5 years old in terms of development. Take what we've got and make them darned aware that we would like it better next time around http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.
