Have you ever had those days when you`ve gotten on the tail of some cocky semi-noob who`s been strafing the runway with impunity- You get on his tail shoot him down and he vanishes 2 feet from the earth cos he`s quit out? :<

Or you are attacked from behind, manage to evade and turn the tables on him. He decides to flee back to base where there`s lots of AAA. The AAA fails to shoot you down and you kill him just as he`s landing, then he says `I was landing!`
Excuse me? You attacked me then ran back to base and expect me to break off cos you`re landing?

And what about those who have to swear loud expletives, cos they were killed? It`s not clever and reveals them as 10-14 yr olds trying to look like adults.
It`s right not to like being shot down, but learn by it, instead of crying!
(Saturdays and Sundays are worse for this. I`ll just have to keep to week evening days.)

Sorry, just a quick vent! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'd still shoot down a guy that was landing. If I try to run from someone and can't lose him, landing is no form of protection. Would a real pilot have said "Oh, he's landing, better let him go"? I doubt it.

As for quitting out, I did it once last night after some cockhead collided with me the second time. I saw my wing come off, he got the credit for my kill and I said "yeah right, later loser" and quit. Sore perhaps but collisions aren't victories in my books.

I can understand your point there, Dexmeister.

I just get annoyed with those who were properly shot down. They think they can lose you, but they don`t, or they should hit you, but they fail. You can usually smell `em. They`re quite happy shooting others from on high or strafing, but the moment their plane`s going down or they get PK`d it`s instant quit! It`s the old `It`s not fair that I died` routine, `So I`m gonna quit!`

I understand not saying S! cos that can be annoying, but anything else is just poor show.

I understand your points as well. See the vulching thread. Some people are sick of talking about it, but you know if the thread dies they'll be another to take it's place, only then we'll be starting over and some semi-noob you spoke of will be spilling ignorance.

I don't think there is anything wrong with fleeing back to base. If you are in a unfavorable combat situation, its definately OK. If you are foolish enough to try to kill him with all that flak about, than its your decision. It happened in real life all the time. I do think its bush to leave the game if someone is on your six. Shouting obscenities while offensive is also ok. Im sure it happened also.

When I am in a 190 (this happened yesterday) and I am taking a couple of shots at an La-5 and he gets on my tail, I drag em back to my AAA all the time. Not because I am a chicken, but becuase there isn't anything I can do. I will stick it out until were both about to stall, and If I cant get on his tail or get a good shot, I'm running.

Flee back to base, OK. Try to land, get shot down and complain of vulching, NOT OK.

My sentiments exactly WAR is HELL!......Real pilots in a war dont cry when they get gunned off the runway. They just deal with it as a fact of war. I am guessing this is a deathmatch scenario, where people whine all the time of unfair killz. Or guys just waiting to vultch. I havent played IL-2 online yet, but played many other titles online, and its the same everywhere. It's just a game, and i play it for my own amusement regardless of who's getting vulched and having a temper tantrum /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I've had nights when I got riddled repeatedly. Come to think of it, that is most nights.

And I know what you are talking about. I've been in dogfight servers where I got shot down by the same person a number of times, and then when I turn the tables, and get on that guy's close six, with a sure kill, the %*$& disappears! The big, bad ace disconnects, just as I am about to score one measly victory.

You completely got the wrong end of the stick, m8.
My beef isn`t about running. When I`m in a 109 I will run if the situations against me. Correct strategy if you have faster plane. It`s the moaning about being hit on landing.

and said:

No. Absolutely wrong. In reality enemy fighter pilots did swear (and I prefer it), but you never heard it sent at you. Also, in a gaming situatuion it can create very bad angst with everyone.

I think some people forget that when they`re on the net playing a game they are no longer playing silicon chips, but real, breathing people. It`s wrong to vent such anger when you are just playing a game too. And if you`re just kidding, it`s not kidding for some around the world to write `FU*K YOU!` to them just cos they shot you down fairly!
It`s enough to mutter it to yourself. Do they need to write it also? NO.

And it will not make you a better pilot.

last night this was my move, After spotting my squad m8 trailing a Yak at some distance I dove in looking to cover his tail, after what could only be described as some very impressive flying the lone Yak turned the tables on us! I soon find myself in a hard turn fight, alone with him.well done! He breaks the stale mate with hard vertical wing over at the top BANG! Oil covers most my wind screen, black smoke boils from my wounded plane, I have altitude so I toggle map, find home is all I can think to do, roll to steep dive and make my run for it, air speeds all I got left! On the deck 300+ hr home plates in site! But I know he's there, I can't see him but I know! By now my wounded engine is complaining, all but used up, I have one last move left, 200 yards out I chop throttle, full flaps, pull back the stick hard, toggle hat looking strait up just in time to see the muzzle flashes! Engine screaming I clime strait up, he blows by! I close flaps nose down no throttle, I roll a little to the right line up what's going to be the middle of the runway, drop gear, and land. Did I cheat him out of his kill, or did I save my plane and my ars! The idea of leaving a game too cheat some one out there kill is despicable and is no one I would want to fly with! And just so happens was done to me later in this very same game along with some more than believable moves by an I-16 every time I got on his six! Lag ?.....maybe, but was strange to me it was just him and happened on several occasions, too the point I finely gave up and left the game! In fairness I'm a 56ker and know this could have much to do with it, but most days it's not a problem for me.

Whatever works, goes. Except ramming. When I ram someone by accident, I apologize. Ramming someone is lame and unprofessional and it usually results in one plane getting killed only if there is lag. Which is also unfair and unrealistic.

Just grab the bottom edge of that chat window and push it all the way up so you don't see any chat at all! Then they can scream till they're blue in the face and it won't bother you one tiny bit!

I would never whine during the match, to me it's in poor taste, would rather go find a fare game with like minded peeps! But why do some cheat! I don't understand what satisfaction comes from it, I'm a rammer sorry to say! Once ran over my own team mate on the runway DOH! But never intentionally! Still a n00b!
