S!

My Squad wants to replace the stock voices in FB with Squad members voices. It seems the promised GB voices are actually American, the only British voice is so bad its unbelievable and spoils the game for some.

I cant see this being a problem and Im sure Oleg you wouldnt mind as each person would only hear his own files anyway.

The problem comes here. Trying to replace the WAV files with new ones didnt work.

Looking at the Stock WAV files I find they are not a usual CODEC. I dont even think there WAV files I think they are MP3 files.

My Question is, Why make this small part of the game so secure ?

And If anyone knows what CODEC is used to make these files please let me know.

It would be so nice for us to hear our mates voices when were flying.

Come on Oleg, open the game up for some small changes to be made by the guys who love it so much, its not fair that this game should be so watertight that we cant do anything to enhance our enjoyment of it.

WAV files saved as MONO 11025 khz (IIRC) Mpeg Layer 1. (as per the manual)

There is a British voice-pack in development and will be available along with my RAF campaign within a week or so.

S! Cheers.

Have you successfully made new sound files that play in the game ?

What audio editor have you used. I cant find one that will work for those settings.

Thanks for your help.

I personally haven't, although I have succesfully made some edits to the BBQ voice-pack to work with FB.
NTESLA has compiled the new RAF voice-pack which is 99.9% done now. He uses SoundForge I believe, that's also the audi editor that I used.

TY Sir.

I havnt yet managed to get anything to play in game, But thats simply because I dont have any software that will save the file in the correct format.

I am looking into the sound forge you mentioned.

Can I get one thing clear hear, is it actually a WAV CODEC or is it an MP3 file simply renamed as a wav file, this is causing quite a bit of argument here LOL.

I think its a WAV file but AN Other thinks its a MP3 file, can you help me to win a beer.

TY RAF Blackace

It's a WAV file saved in MPEG layer 1 compression.
It's quite a difficult CODEC to find I think.
I actually cheat!
I save as a WAV in MPEG Layer 3 compression. (SoundForge) www.sonicfoundry.com (http://www.sonicfoundry.com)

BA,
Below is a thread I started on the movie makers forum about creating radio comms. I don't know how good my attempt is compared to others but I was impressed <G>.
