I would like you opinions. I can build my own system over time to a very bada** rig. I am currently running a 1.8 Celeron, 40g HD, 768MB PC2100, and a 128MB GeForce FX 5200.

I can either build a new system to have a motherboard with an AGP slot(currently dont have one), or should I just go for an Asylum Geforce FX 5200 PCI 256MB for 129.99 at CompUSA? I know I should do away with my 1.8 Celeron, they arent so gaming friendly(they're slow IMHO). I would like you guys and gals feedback.

You definately need to start a new system man. You can get a AMD 2800+ and a nice Nforce mobo for less than $200. From there you can upgrade as you get the money.

If you have good quality ram, you can probably OC it to get 166mhz with some relaxed timings.

If you are going to do it right though, I would get a gig of pc3200. Thats another $200.

Then you can get a 9800pro or 5900 for another 200, so, 600 bucks for a new rig you will be very happy with.

Good luck!

I´d go for the new motherboard, preferably with new processor as well as Celeron is weak compared to the other parts of the Intel family. Plus PCI is slow compared to AGP and another PCI card wont bring you alot more performance than AGP would.
So actually I´d say, go for a new motherboard with AGP for sure, and if possible a new CPU as well. Make sure you can still use your old memory if you want to use that instead of replacing that as well. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Good luck!

Theres nothing wrong with building a system over time. Thats how my last one was done. Ditto what Coastie says. Your pc2100 will serve you well in a new mobo/cpu combo.
Next buy will be new vid card.
Last buy RAM.
