I've come to the conclusion that all this patch business is just part of a marketing ploy.
The only thing most poeple were really looking forward to in the patch were the new aircraft and maps,if it enhanced the framerate thats a bonus.
What did we get? Not ONE new aircraft! just a load of fiddling with flight models which no one seems pleased about ( I suspect this includes the developement team ) and exchanging old bugs for new, but crucially for me the aircraft are less flyable and therfore the game is less playable.
Its a standard marketing tactic to whip up expectations then delay fulfilment of those expectations so that when they eventually are fulfiled people rush out and spend their money without a second thought.
Until news of the patch for FB, interest in it was waning, mine certainly was.
No doubt Ubisoft want to sell one more "sturmovik" sim which will share 90% commonality whith FB which shared 90% commonality with IL2. Promises of good things to come help maintain interest in their product and now people are talking about paying for the new aircraft (the flight models won't be any better than they are now!) well forget it Ubisoft I've wasted enough money in hardware upgrades on this game.
Oleg might be russian, but he seems to have grasped the principles of capatalism well enough.

Tedious unoriginal wooly philoshophical statement the pith of which is lost in repetition.

You do understand the difference between a PATCH and an ADDON (free or otherwise)?? Do you??

I'd never join a club that would have ME as a member!!.

Yes. A patch is supposed to fix sofware not break i

Ofcourse they try to keep interrest up and they must calculate how keen people are to to buy the add on.
IMO people would pay for an add on wich contains "their"
favorit plane even if the rest is uninteresting.
( just ask p51 or spit whiners /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

So they are also obviously dissapointed with the "patchproblem" bcause they have invested alot in this sim and community. So naturally they try to fix it.

But seems to me that they expect the comunity to beta test the patches? and post bugs on forum?

I'm confused too. A sim, a game, call it what you want. Accuracy in flight models is relative for so many people. I just want to live vicariously through this simgame to be able to do some of the things I've always wanted to do.

Is Oleg a god? Hell no! He's a damn good programmer though and I for one am thankful!

The patch (V1.11) seems to have addressed many of the issues that were identified...good.

The add-on will open many more doors. I'll wait pateintly, thank you...well maybe not patiently, but I'll wait.

First you get the game patched and running well. Then you release more stuff.

Simple concept, what part don't you understand?

So many fail to see that working with large development projects with tons of lines of code is not a walk in the park.

My only complaint was how long it took to fix the p40 dive bug and try to hold it all up for one patch, which didn't end of working anyway.

But, now it's pretty good minus a few nit picks.

I'm sure they are working on a nice package of new stuff that everyone will like..

I agree Tsisqua!
$40.00 is a pretty cheap admission price for something we all seem so passionate about. I'm satisfied.
I do find it ludicrus to complain about such miniscule things as a 15kph variance in the top speed of the FW190.....yaddah yaddah yaddah.
Incompatabilities and corrections in hardware or non working features should be, have been, and will be adressed.
But $40.00 flight sim/game?????........PLEASE!
