I have a new, custom built system utilizing the EVGA GeForce 6800, 128MB card. I had previously never used Pefect Setting, but when I enabled Perfect Setting and flew in the Crimea area, the ocean became black. There was no detail in the water. Just Black. Do I go back to Excellent setting, or is the black ocean correctable?

Open conf ini. Scroll down to ogl render and make sure that txflags.textureshaderNV is set to 1. This should solve your problem.

Run setup again in main FB folder http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Select OpenGL as graphics driver...
Set stencil buffer on... (could be in FB)
In FB goto video options and set landscape detail to perfect rest all maxed out
don't forget to "Apply"

Now edit conf.ini in main FB folder with notepad.
Find the entries for "Forest=" under the [OpenGL] heading and set the following values

Sky=2
Forest=3
Water=2

save & exit notepad, make conf.ini Read-Only (right click in explorer - Properties - select the "Read Only" tag)...

It should work now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...

it is in the main FB game folder Notepad will open it ok, the path to it will be

C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles

If the game is in the default location ie the one it automaticaly installed itself to, if not it will be on the drive or folder you selected like games D etc, but the path will be similar, once in there edit the config file as LIL Labbit has said above.
