Nvidia is getting kicked in the family jewels again by Ati.

Looks like Nvidia still hasn't learned how to cope with FSAA & AF used together.

With the new GeForce 6800 they only manage to beat the Radeon X800 without FSAA or with one of the 2, but with both enabled the 6800 is getting put to shame by the X800.

I hope this doesn't raise the price on the new X800.

I don't draw the same conclusions. I actually don't know which I would buy at this point.

This is fantastic news as it means price wars are about to break out.

Actually, there is no clear winner here. The X800XT and 6800Ultra trade top position from game to game and from setting to setting.

You also have to remember that the 6800 is based on an entirely new architecture and there is still much room for improvement in the drivers (especially when it comes to AF which they just implemented a new version of). On the otherhand, the X800 line is based on the old, last generation r300 core and so their drivers are relatively mature.

Also, the Nvidia cards offer more features like PS3.0 which has yet to be implemented in most games, but should provide a performance boost over PS2.0. The 6800 also has two DVI outputs to the X800's one.

Finally, the 6800's power requirements and heat output are much greater than the X800's so that's something to consider as well.

Really, no one's won and no one's going to win until Nvidia gets their cards out and we can compare retail prices. Only then can we compare functionality, performance, and price properly and choose a winner.

This will come as a major shock to the Usual Suspects...

I like this new ATI chip. I probably wont buy it because of cost, but I really like it. 3Dc is good stuff.

Looks like a pretty good race. I think if I were to buy one, it would depend on what features they are gonna throw in the box for the money. Both cards are fast, and neither is kicking either "in the family jewels". The one nice thing on the Nvidia card is the dual DVI, which for the life of me I can't figure out why no one has done until now on consumer cards. IMHO it should have been standard on all duel-head cards. Looks to be quite interesting year for video cards, I like to see some competition.

Now everyone prepare for the fanboys, they will be here soon http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif
