Has anyone seen a 19" or 20" LCD with a high response time of 15-20ms suitable for FB?. I tried a 21" Samsung that had a beautiful picture but when you changed views the cockpit struts ghosted badly. Its response time was 25ms.

I got a 25ms 18.1" LCD screen and I see no ghosting.

Do you have Vsync enabled?

Hi Cap

I'm not sure if vsync was on or not. I should have done more testing before returning the monitor. When you fly with full cockpit do you see any ghosting of the struts when you look form side to side. I see some ghosting with my CRT but the LCD ghosting was very bad in that situation.
I was very disappointed as the picture and color quality was amazing compared to my old CRT. I could just buy another CRT but found the LCD easier on my old worn out eyes.

I have a Microtek lcd and it is great.. it is a 18 inch and there is no lag in the screen refresh.. I love it and the picture looks fantastic.. I will not go back to the old type that is for sure.. you might take a look at this one , I think you will like it as much as I do.. the price was $400.00 US

Hi Chivas,

There is always some ghosting when you swap views with the pov hat because they are fast and sudden.
I use NewView for panning around, it's the same as moving around with your mouse but then it's with the pov hat.
With NewView I have no ghosting what so ever when panning around.

As a side note, I really wonder is there is any person on this planet that can see the difference between 25ms and 20ms.
If they flick a light on and off and randon let it swap between 20ms and 25ms I am positive that you don't notice the difference of 5ms with the naked eye.

My KDS 17" LCD has a 25ms response time, and I have no complaints about the picture quality. I've watched movies, played games like IL2/FS2004/UT2k3/MOH and while there is a slight difference from what my old CRT had, I'm not picky enought to complain about it. In fact, considering that my eyestrain has almost disappeared I would not want a CRT again.

If you're very concerned about LCD performance, go to a store and use them, keep looking and asking around until you can play a game on an LCD in your price range and see what you'll be getting. That's the only way to be sure.

I've done searching on the net and found a 20" NEC LCD monitor with a 16ms response time.

MultiSync LCD2080UX+

Anyone had any experience with this one?

Cap....I agree that seeing a response difference of 5ms is most likely impossible. But with a better response time there should be less ghosting. Although most manufactures seem to fudge their response time figures.

See if that is 16ms in only one direction.

I got a 20" Spectre LCD that was 10ms vert and 15ms horz. (=25ms total) I returned it the next day. Planes that flew by fast ghosted. When I flew open cockpit, the arrows at the edge of the screen were the worst for ghosting. Overall the picture quality was a big step down from the 17" CRT I was trying to upgrade from!

Well, I took a $130.00 hit in restocking fees and got a ViewSonic 19" flat panel. The picture quality is fantastic! And it was a he11 of a lot cheaper!
