i prefer the old one.

i like knowing that a fighter is ~200m when its wings are the width of that small circle. i like being able to quickly get the right amount of lead using the edge of that circle in most of the shot angles i fire from.

to me, the old sight (which WAS historical was it not?) is more useful.

i dont need the current big circle, i could just use haflway between the small circle and the edge of the reflector glass as a refernce if i needed to. why was it changed?

thank you.

The current site is the correct one I beleive. If you read most manuals state that when the wingspan fits into the circle once it is 100m away. Oleg said they made a mistake orginally and though the dimension for the circle was the diameter when actually it was the radius.

WOOOOW!! Great news!!!

This is the correct sight! The larger circle now should indicate 20 deg deflection, which is much more useful that the 10 deg deflection circle (20 degrees is the deflection you'll use most of the time). The 10 deg circle can be estimated anyway, and now we can also aproximate the 30 deg defl circle, which previously there was no way to do it.

actually yes you are right. i found this link:

http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/photoreports/hallinportti2002/

near the bottom is an actual working revi gunsight.

hmph, i wonder why ww2ol's gunsight is the same as IL2's old one?

Give us reality and not personal preference :)

Glad to see it was fixed.

This is one of the bugs I have been hoping would be fixed for a long time. About using it now for 20 degree deflection shooting, could someone give me an explanation or link on how to correctly use it?

I edited and lost my previous post:D well I was talking about an original ww2 RAF gunnery manual kept at SimHQ.

Is not there anymore, too bad guys it was really an useful read. There is an equivalent from a German manual, but at a superficial read (I already read the other one) it seemed to me less detailed. It's available on one the site that keeps an Il2 tutorial, but I don't remember the name of the site. I might have it in Favorites, but it's a jungle in there:D

I dunno about right or wrong, but the less cluttered view the new gunsight offers, has dramatically increased my gunnery. I like this sight!
