I have not seen any bug reports on the Battle Over Europe add-on so I will start one.

Bug #1) Trains have been sighted cruising all over the countryside. They turn off tracks & sometimes hang in the middle of nowhere. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif I would guess it is related to the DGen code assigning them coordinates that do not match the maps?

This one was June 10 1944, Normandy Map

Bug #2 The awards system does not make sense or follow reality. I have recieved a bronze star after my 3rd air victory and it took me until my 12th to get the air medal. I believe the air medal was issued for each 3rd aircraft shot down or 50 missions. Maybe someone can help out with the exact criterion.
There is no Purple Heart if you are wounded and I received a campaign medal for completing the 3 mission pre-invasion portion of the P-47 campaign. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

Bug #3 Me 262s were first encountered in combat in late 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge, but they are flying all over Normandy during the invasion. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/354.gif I have shot one down and chased another after only 12 missions. Should the planes not follow the historical reality of the war?

I know Starshoy follows this board and is aware of the Typos in the briefs, but where are the exact errors being posted? I will post here or in ORR if someone will let me know which is better.

I am assuming that since this is a lisenced add-on, it will be supported similar to FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That's all for now....

Good points. I haven`t flown BOE much (Still waiting for the Brit planes). Starshoy`s doing a patch due for release by mid April, but i don`t know if he`s aware of the train/ medal bugs. Although I LIKE the Me262 situation, it creates a more `real` situation because you`re not sure what may happen next ( a slight variety on reality). I hate flying the war always knowing what`s going to happen overall. I believe SimHQ`s the place to go to alert Starshoy... I can`t get in unfortunately.....

Don't know about the medals, but I can confirm the train bug. I popped one the other night on the Normandy map that was swimming through a river.

This might not be the best place for BOE bugs as the product is sold by Justflight, not UBI. There's a forum dedicated to BOE at Justflight: http://forum.justflight.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=16

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

That's OK. I posted on the justflight forum and Starshoy answered almost right away.

He said the train thing is a known bug with FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif
Funny I have not seen them before now...maybe I just didn't bust enough trains.

The medals are awarded according to days in campaign, not missions and random medals like a purple heart don't fit in the program parameters. Also FB related. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

He has already fixed the Me262 dates in the patch. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks for the response, but I still haven't seen any other bug reports. Maybe there aren't any more bugs. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks for the update. I'll post over here anyway http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

All the bugs you cited are true, glad to hear the swimming train (I just pretended it was a tug boat with barges) will be removed from the rivers.

I'm flying BOE because it's the only Western Front game in town (other than DCG, which I love when it works right but Paul seems to add two new bugs for every one that he fixes).

My biggest gripe is the bomber escort missions. They are unplayable. Turn into slide shows once the fighting starts. Why do we need 1,000-plane raids? Cut the bomber force by at least 2/3 and it should be okay (or at least better).

As for Starshoy, well, he gave us the stock campaigns that were included in IL-2 and FB. And they were pretty lame, according to every media review. Why did anyone expect anything better just because we're paying him for it?

It's all there is, so I fly it (the P-47 campaign anyway, the P-51 gets too many mud moving missions and is dead meat on every one). But consider how great so many other things are in this sim, BOE doesn't measure up.
