Ok, I might be a newb to all this, but can someone tell me how (if possible), to change audio types. Such as changing a Winamp file to a .wav file etc...

If anyone knows of any programs or tutorials to do this, can you please help me out by including these. Thank you for your time. - Gopher

There are a lot of methods, and it depends on the format. To get to a wav from an mp3, you can use Winamp and choose the diskwriter plugin as your output instead of the speakers. If you're burning to a cd, most modern software will do the conversion for you. If you want to get from a wav to an mp3, there are lots of encoders out there. I recommend Lame (with the Razor Lame interface). Other than that, as I said, it gets format specific. There are all kinds of specialized utilities to convert audio formats. Some may or may not be included in your audio editing software (if you have any).

Well, here's my situation:

I want to change my log-off sound clip (I already know how to get change the sound), BUT! When I found the sound clip that I desired as a replacement of the default sound, the sound clip was a winamp file (as with the other sound clips on the others websites), anyway:

This is my question:

How can I change this Winamp File into a .wav file? (The sound clip of logging off is a .wav file, and only those files will work, so how can I convert a file?)

if you can play the file in winamp... you can convert it to a WAV file...

just goto....

Options --> Preferences --> Plug-ins --> Output

...and choose the "disk writer" option and make sure you configure the options (i.e. output directory )..

this will convert the file to wav instead of playing it... and your newly created file should be created in your outpur directory... *.wav.

I appreciate your help very much, but correct this for me if possible. I go to Options, the I went to Preferences, but their is no Plug-Ins option.

Should I post specs and other stuff?

"Options" --> click on "Preferences"

then goto --> Plug-ins --> Output

...and choose the "disk writer" option

Yes, shangsta, once again, I appreciate your help dearly, but, for me, their is no plug-ins option. Here is a picture:

In this one, notice, I circled "Preferences" (note: it is circled)

Now in this one, I have marked the Preferences options. Note how their is no "Plug-Ins" option. :

Now, If I have made any mistakes, or have not noticed something, please post them, shangsta. Once again, I appreciate your help very much. - Gopher

The plugins aren't found in version 3 of winamp. The older version does include it though.

Oh. Thank you. Will the Winamp website have previous versions?

Last time I checked they did, but that was awhile ago. Even though I still think they would keep the older version around for those claim v.3 uses too much resources.
