I've had no negative experiences with either yet, but I don't have much "traffic" through those sites. I know a guy here who never has less than 40 or 50 auctions up at Ebay, and he has never spoke of any problems.

Now, that said, I've read the horror stories that are out there on the web. I guess it's like anything else, buyer must beware.

Ebay itself is fine but like anything of this nature the old axiom buyer beware should be in the forfront,Pay attention to what your looking at,new or used items need to be given careful thought as price and quality.
As for Paypal heres my thought: I do not believe in giving out a creditcard number no matter how secure the site....If a seller isn't willing to except cashiers checks or postal /bank money orders....I'll look elsewhere for that item.

I buy and sell on ebay occasionally, mostly using PayPal. I have no reservations about it. Ebay and PayPal themselves don't worry me, but I do check individual sellers and items thoroughly.

As paranoid as regulars know I am about cookies, spam and privacy policys. I have been using Ebay not seriously, never bought but registered a couple of years ago.
Never used PayPal.
Signed up, sold quite a few things and bought some on Ebay and signed up and have done accounting with Paypal.

My spam has quadrupled since I signed onto paypal. Could be cooincidence. I read their privacy policy and a couple of vague points, which I thought would spare me "mailings of interest" if I checked 'no' here and there.
pfffft
My spam has increased from 20-30 a day to around 60-90. This is what makes it thru the filter.

I've had no problem with either. Paypal is an excellent facility for accepting credit card payments from individuals and pretty cheap with it, too.

Ebay is a sellers tool, no doubt. Buyers get sucked into last minute bidding wars and pay more than they should quite frequently. Mind you, I suppose that's the nature of auctions in general. I use Ebay to sell all my old tat with great success.

Cheers, Spinner

I've had nothing but excellent experiences with both...though on occasion you will run into some scrapes with people that you buy and sell from, because they are after all people, just like you meet in real life. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I think that Ebay and Paypal are pretty useful myself, kinda glad they are available.

I'm on the fence and agree with the statements by Zen and adlabs6. I've used both to a limited degree and still not sure how much I trust them, but they are convenient.

Sorry for taking this thread in another direction, but I wonder if it would be possible to start a sell/trade board on these forums. I've got six or seven items I'd like to sell (or trade) and I'd give members of the community a better deal than I'd give a "stranger." Are there any IL2 related sites that have such a board? Are there any other sites besides ebay that people trust more?

Won't some talented artist help Talus and me with some working 20 inch spinners for our rides...and maybe a neon kit.

MTV, pimp my P38!

I've recently picked up a manifold pressure gauge and an artificial horizon gyro up from a P51 on Ebay... Always have had good luck with Ebay and Paypal here. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
