Or not.

I really wonder why Microsoft ODBC is required for Internet forum software. I mean in reality it's a great connectivity assistant for linking disparate systems but it's known for its bugginess and slow performance. Given the nature of Internet forum software it seems strange that ODBC is required, non?

Ah well, UBI is testing the patch so they must know what they're doing.

In UBI we trust.

I don't see why they don't dump this Lithium crap for phpBB2 or vBulletin. Even if Lithium didn't puke all the time, the feature set still sucks in comparison.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on that Blind... Though I don't think they will want to move over to a different system, unless it really is a must. Right now, no matter how flunky it is, it still works ...

I just hope that lithium will wake up soon and do something about it. Another update is desperately needed!

More updates ... maybe then we all be happy.

I've come to the conclusion that the people in charge of this board have absolutely NO CLUE what is wrong with this board, so they are just randomly changing things to hope they get lucky.

Hmm..no string...ok...let's limit the sig size!

Uhhh...the boards been down for 4 hours again today, just like yesterday....ok...let's get rid of scripts...that should do it!

Hey, there are a select few *******es causing trouble in the pilot's lounge....really?....Well then we best get rid of it.

Well if we hate this forum so much, maybe we should stop posting and let it die a slowly death.

Maybe then they get the idea. though if they are dense as you try to illustrate I think they just start writing stuff themselves to keep the illusion that the forums are still 'active'. You know, quantity not quality.

When Sierra dropped its Red Baron forums the community was forced to find another place to hang out and talk about the game.

At first this was a problem as everyone fragmented onto a dozen or more different squad run boards.

Soon thereafter one of the community members with a little money to burn set up a great forum and website which was, and this is the important part, MUCH BETTER than the original Sierra site.

One well run website with forums, tech tips, skins, game files and just about anything else concerning the game. It was so good Sierra even put a pointer to it on their website.

Maybe that's what we need here. I'm sure UBI would love to have the community run it's own forums...

August

Well, they are using ASP for scripting the forum and MS SQL Server for the database, so ASP needs ODBC in order to interface with SLQ Server or any other Database system, even with MS Access. Now the real question here is WHY does M$ treat its own DB formats as foreing? Guess just another Microcrap snafu.

And yes, ODBC is buggy as hell just like every other Microcrap product around.

I agree with some of the posters here, PHP and MySQL shoulda been used instead in these here forums.
