Hi all! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I just upgraded to Windows XP and now I am screwed because my Sidewinder 3D Pro Plus doesn't work anymore. It is detected but then it says it's not connected. Apparently Microsoft have not included any support for this joystick in Windows XP!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

So I have to buy a new joystick now... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Does anybody have recommendations???
I'd need at least:
* throttle
* hat (do analogue hats exist???)
* twist-handle rudder
* plenty of buttons! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks very much in advance!!!

Before the trigger shot craps, my MS Sidewinder 3D Pro worked with XP Home. Make sure your game port is showing up in Device Mananger. Go to MS support site and search for a XP driver. You might try a game port to USB adapter (Radio Shack $15).

I replaced the MSSW 3D Pro with a Saitek X45. Man, am I glad the trigger shot craps on the MSS 3D Pro. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

The not connected thing is static buildup on the usb plug on the joystick. My sidewinder precision pro does this sometimes. The MS tech said unplug, wait 20-30 sec & plug back in. You have to do this several times to get rid of the static buildup. You also may switch ports if possible. One of the usb ports did the not connect thing a couple of times & the last time I swapped to a different port & it worked fine. I have also left the joystick unplugged for a day & it worked the next day.Somebody here suggested putting the joystick on a mousepad to avoid the charge buildup because of the metal base.

Definately Saitek X-45.

Also, don't use the original Saitek drivers. I only had problems with them. This page has good drivers and utilities for the X-45: http://saitekhelp.simhq.com/

Thanks very much guys! I'll be looking for a Saitek, I see http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

My SW3Dpro is a gameport one, and I do have a gameport-usb plug but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

BlakJakOfSpades, you're right. Since my previous motherboard died I haven't been able to play IL-2FB as my videocard died with it. But yesterday I got my new ATI Redeon X800 Pro, so once I got my joystick problems sorted, my PC should ROCK again! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
