I'm adding a countdown script to AEP_Tools.

You be able to press a key and it will send a countdown sequence to all players via chat.

I need to know:

what keys to start / stop the countdown.
Duration of countdown.
Text to send during countdown.

Example:
ALT+R starts/stops countdown.
All players see:

3...
(1 second pause)
2...
(1 second pause)
1...
(1 second pause)
GO GO GO

Suggestions?

Most racers use a script that is ran by the console window. It allows the person that initiated the script/countdawn to still type in the chat window while the countdown is progressing. The count usually runs for 30 to 60 secs depending on the aircraft. (Fighters 30/ multiengines 60) Cool Idea though

Ah. Easy enough.

I can hot-key the script execution if need be, otherwise I'll just concentrate on other matters.

hotkeying would be cool but you can do that in the rcu file. I run the user STAT command by just typing stat in the console. Same goes for any scripts like mp_dotrange.

oooh, What else are ya working on?

I set a button on my controller to alt-s and now my lights blink without having to turn them on first. Just got lucky figuring that out.

In the works:

Chat key interlock: this should stop the automatic key-strokes from effecting chat.

User defined quick-launch menus: working now, and to be honest, its VERY cool. Look for the new release on monday http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Auto-update: still working on this. I need to do two versions... one for beta testers, one for normal users. Still in R&D stage.

I've got a few hundred other ideas in the works too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Check the IL2 racing site downloads (or my site) for versions of the start script (see links in my sig).

There are at least three flavours of starter script ... just different lengths of count down. Longer count downs are for multi-engine types.

I have to say, I have these set up in my rcu file .. s30 and s60 are my usual commands.
I also use those scripts to start recording tracks (check those links).

I've given up correcting my own spelling
Unless I've corrected it here

Thanks for that Painter.

I'll add a few hot-keys to fire these scripts but wont enable them by default, since most people wont be using them.
