OK. Im checking in to see if anyone is interested in doing an IL2 Lan Party in Southern California area.

I have a great place set up already. My boss is a big IL2 fan and him and I would like to get a bunch of IL2 players out here to play some Coop stuff (or DM) one day. I wanted to see who is in the area and who would be up for it if/when it happened.

Here is some details. We are in the LA/Glendale area, but only about 1 hour away from Orange county. You would not need to bring you computer. We have some very high end rigs here to play on (All Dual Xeon rigs with GeForce cards, most high-end Quadro stuff), but you will need to bring you joystick, IL2 CD, and your flying skills.

We are thinking about having it just after the release of the add-on so we can play with the new aircraft, or maybe one b4 and one soon after.

What we would like is feedback from some of you local guys. Like how many would be willing to go, and what days would be good (Saturday before add-on or Saturday after, or even both).

So lets see a show of hands!!! Who wants to play some IL2 FB on Dual Xeon with Gibbage?!?!?!!

Saturday for sure. You guys better have food and drinks, cause after I use up that much gas I won't have any money left.

I uh, kinda am gonna pack like a woman, cause uh, I have a lot of stuff. TrackIR, X45, CH Peddals, USB mic...Hope those comps have lots of USB ports.

Edit: Many Jg27 are in LA area. This could be a squad meeting. Also, if anyone surfs, we can have a session of that too up there. (Or if you're in SD down here)

Well it wont be for at least a few weeks. So you guys can save up some gas money. As for bringing a lot of accessories, at least you wont be packing a PC http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif And yes we do have a few USB ports. I will need to check my workstation when I get in in the morning and see just how many.

Also, we currently have 8 open computers for people. I will bring my own PC and then my boss has his PC, plus 8. Im thinking that if we have more people, then they can bring there own since we have room for at least 3 more computers down stairs, and maybe another 12 upstairs if we need it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I doubt we will need the upstairs, and I would kinda like to keep it small and personal. Not some crazy freak show. If I wanted that, I could go to a BF 1942 lan!! Lol. Keep the reply's commin.

We need one of these in Sydney Australia. Or I could fly over using MSFS2004 LOL

You know what would be the absolute BEST

Two Lans connecting via the internet from completely different locations and going Coop against each other. THAT is my vision of the future!!!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Off course you would need some hellish Bandwidth

Small personal lan party sounds great. We could fly some sick coop missions. A boss who loves IL2? How cool is that?

I live just north of you in western Canada but the wife needs the car. If it doesn't snow too much in the mountain pass between Oregon and Washington I should be able to walk there by August or September.

The systems in question typically have 4 or more USB ports available. I guess we would need the 1st hour to set up everyones hardware, no biggy.

Bringing favorite profiles for IL2FB and the hardware would be recommended.

No the cows have not out number the people in norco for some time... but I think that the horses still out number the people in norco... but not 100% sure on that... As for the smell... what smell? That is just nature talkin! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Actually.. sad news.. the smell is/was from the dairys just noth of norco on the 15 freeway... They have all been pretty much force out by housing developments... So a few years from now you wont have the smell along the 15 freeway... Just some of that good city culture with all it's plastic trash and graphity on the over p***es... SIGH.... Yup.. thats progress! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

We're in the north-most part of Glendale. A half a block south from being in Montrose.

On a map, look for the Hwy 2/I-210 junction.

I've lived here my whole life and now I commute everyday to the University of California Riverside. My old high school was Centennial High, class of 02'. But I'm betting you go to Santiago huh? I think a IL-2 LAN game is a great idea cause all the local internet gaming establishments always lack any flight sims.

I could come, but afraid of being of (how u say) bad treatment there. I (snoop-the correct\proper word? sneak view maybe?) on IL netwing design forum and I see how it is there.

Much rudeness, much quick temper. Flying off the handle, short answerers, impatients with new people. Many rules like in my ol country. Everything this way or that way. no (temperance wright word?)

I am fairly new to this country and would not wont to be mad fun off or put down, be embaresed in frontof others by rudeness.

I think you over-estimate us. But if you really think the skill gap is more than your comfortable with, then you should do like I used too; fly an attack aircraft like the IL-2, a medium bomber or even take a gunner position in COOP missions. Any way you look at it, LAN parties are a lot of fun.

I haven't been to the Chino airport but I've always wanted to check out the collection that they have there, I've heard they have a flyabe Me-262.

No the sold off howards hughes Me262 a few years back... and it wasnt in flyable condition.. but it was in good condition! But they do have the ONLY FLYABLE ZERO with the orginal Kawasiki engine out there and lots of other flyable stuff like the Northrup Flying Wing that led to the Northrup B2 Flying Wing.. not the Go229 like so many WANT to belive.

Oh well, I would still love to go. I don't think the History Channel would agree with that assumptions about the B-2 though. LOL!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Gibbage .... I'm still up for it too.

Hey ... it is a small world. I live in Etiwanda near BPLIzard (ever hit the Claim Jumper ... that used to be our ranch and vineyards).

Wetwilly87 and MustangWZI ... I lived in Corona for 8 years (I still own a house on Mission Ct and Main). "Willy" ... your lucky, I taught at Corona High till I moved up to Horizon Continuation. If you think it's bad in Norco ... try it just above the Santa Ana river on a HOT summers day. Flies the size of that B-25 that flies out of Chino all the time (ouch)! My wife is a checker at the Albertsons at Ontario and Rimpau. Corona and Cucamonga have a very similar history ... both great places to live ... unless your near Home Gardens or Fontucky!

Cool, clayman! Did you evacuate during the Grand Prix fire? My wife and I did. That was a horrible chapter in CA history.

its not the teachers, its just the atmospehere, they building alot of crap now, they tore down all those nice big trees in the front, and their making like three big new buildings, they already have the superstructures up. and their just tearing everything up. You taught at Corona, for how long, and what did you teach. On the subject of P-51's over Corona, most of the time i see planes I just think their little cennas from the airport located by butterfield park. But i see a a couple bi-planes here and there. But I saw once a very fast plane going over Norco, I was to far away to see what it was, for moment i thought it was a P-51, but i said to myself naw, but now that you mention it, it probley was.

Gib

Gib, just don't go on HL, please. You will have to watch your radio chatter with voice comms across the room.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Seriously that should give you a BIG advantage.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Man, you got that right! No ... we were lucky BPLIzard. That was the second worst I've seen. The '57 fire was UNBELIEVABLE. They had no services then and they let it burn ... for 12 freaking days. But heck ... there were like no more than 400 families in the entire area back then. Boy, It was sweet in those days! Oh, and ask anyone about the floods of 69 ... boy THAT was a fun mess too.

We learned from history and bought away from the foothills ... them old Euc's used to catch real good. My grandfather moved to Etiwanda in 1909 ... bought 300 acres at Foothill and the 15 and built a large winery in '24 ... across from Sacred Heart Church. When he passed in the 80's we sold it off and the family bought homes from Red Hill to Etiwanda ... all below what the old timers call the "fire line". It was great growing up in Cucamonga ... but we were always on the watch for fires or floods.

So we knew there could be another "big one" and have always been prepared ... but I had many other friends that lost homes above us, in Claremont by Webb School and up in San Antonio Heights. This was way too Horrible! But again BPLIzard ... Cucamonga is a fine town to live in ... it has history and class.

Regards, clayman

Naw Willy ... sometimes it IS the teachers and staff. If a teacher can't combine being a mentor while staying "young at heart" ...well, it be time to get out of the business. CHS had some stuffy old codgers ... which I feel lead to the tearing up of the place. Boy Wetwilly ... I just about flipped when I drove by that first day and saw everything tore up! Yes they need to expand ... but that was RADICAL! Man, looks bad. Still Corona is one of the better districts ... hell, we could both be stuck in Mo Valley! YIKES!!!

Whoa ... "how long have I taught" ... theres a loaded one. In Corona since 92 ... but I started in Covina and Mt. Sac in 1975. I taught Pottery ... I now teach Fine Arts, Graphics Arts and Special Ed DI/Computer Apps (my son goes to Victress Bowers ... if you catch my drift). My wife is from Covina ... we met at one of my pottery classes at Mt Sac in 78. Pottery and art where a big thing back in those ex-hippie daze ... but hell, we didn't have computers or the net! Like a whole different world.

Planes, Planes ... man do we get to see the planes. No ... your not nuts. All kinds of warbirds out of Chino and Planes of Fame. Many 51's have flown over ... even when I lived down on Mission Ct I'd regularly see a Corsair fly over about once a week ... and the same two B-25's about once or twice a month. Seen lots of A6M2's & 5's, P-40's, P-38's, Hellcats, Bearcats and on and on. My students think I'm nuts when I stare up at the planes ... but then they start asking about them and we talk about what they are and did ... how very soon we won't see them around much.

Like you said ... it probably was a P-51 ... especially if it was moving fast and had that deep ripping rumble. Keep an eye out for that F4U flying ... she sounds great too.

Like Gibbage says ... we all need to do a So Cal run to Planes of Fame. That place kicks ***!

Take it easy ... Clayman

Well alot of the old teachers are going, Mr. Horn the football coach retired, and Mr. Burdick the woodshop teacher retired too. Both cool guys. Some oldtimers are still there. Like Mr. Komoroskey, Mrs. Virdugo, and Mr. Slavin. Did you know any of them. Oh I will look for the corsair.
