think u fly 109's alot...mebby u can explain how a 109 f-4 can climb like a k4 rocket, dive like a 47 from 6k meters, and outrun a p51d-na from 6-9k meters. something reeks of fish. ran into 1 of those in ubi last saterday nite. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Yeah all German planes are overmodelled http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif.
Seriously, you probably had a bad day, or met a cheater...

I have a suggestion, before complaining about any plane, fly it... Sometime it is a real eye opener.

Go test it Sandman.

Test the 109F climb rates, dive speeds, etc....

Test the dive of p47 vs 109

Test the speed of p51D vs 109F

The 109F can climb well. Have you done a test between a K4 and a F4?

Guess you can do this yourself if you really think it's wrong, but I suspect you'll find out it's all pretty good http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hi Sandman.

Yes i fly 109s, but i can`t say that F models can do things that you describe. At this point, due to some holes in security and tons of new hosts at HL who are in the learning curve of running servers alot of odd things possible. I`v seen so many things for the past few weeks it`s rather scary. But, as far as i know security holes are patched in 2.04 and i`m really looking forward to it.
After all, you saying F4 was climbing like there is no tomorrow...how about I-16 catching me on the dive few nights ago...now that was scary... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (I was in G10) funny thing that he overshot me doing like 700+ hehe - amazing, isn`t it?

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

HUH? i-16 catching a g-10? oo u gotta be kiddin. i'm not exactly sure of the security issues, but i was the 1 hosting and i saw a ping of 152ms; 1 that didnt fluctuate either. i know the 109's were designed for high alt's like the mustang, 47, and 38, but it seems the high alt performance of the stang and 38 is a bit fubar...unless there's settings that i'm not adjusting with cem somehow.

witch brings me to another; if cem isnt on, in the american planes with the boost (ex: p-51), the manifold pressure goes no higher than 50 and rpms at no more than 3k. if cem is on, manifold can go up to 60+, rpms over 3k.
i just cant figure out how to properly set up a 109 to get speed by gauges without gettin a blown engine. using wep isnt blowin it...its the over-reving.

High alt performance of the P-38, P-47 and P-51 FUBAR? How often DO you fly that high?

Before we got the P-38, the P-47 just owned at high altitude above 8000m. I flew it all the time at that alt, even if it took forever to get there!

To your 109 question, the Bf-109F-4 could climb at 22m/s; the Bf-109K-4 could climb at roughly 24m/s. That's much faster than most of the US fighters, and the only one that can compete with that climb rate is a P-38. You have to remember USAAF birds weren't designed to climb up to the enemy, but to hit the enemy as he tried to get up. Offensive fighters, not defensive ones like the 109.

i keep seein references to 'ata'...but i cant figure out what this gauge represents or how to read it to get the most power out of the ship.
